What the HELL were you doing in Illinois?

In any case man, hope you make the next game.

No worries - LotB has a history of being..."twitchy".

Black Friday would be a pheomenally bad idea, as Eric&Co. are going to be slammed with people in the mall that day.

My free Saturdays are:
Nov 13
Nov 27
Dec 4
Dec 18
Jan 1 (although I'll bet Sci-fi is closed that day...)

General Discussion / Re: How close in appearance are these two images?

It depends on who's viewing it.

Am I a Harmony Gold lawyer?  Then they're exactly alike, down to the last detail, and a clear infringement of my copyright for the very concept of a "giant, bipedal, mechanical war machine" that I've gained by outspending any other US company who thinks differently.  As evidence of this, I feel that this looks identical to this, which is why I'm suing over it.

Am I a rational person?  They have a vague similarity (bipedal, big guns on the arms, at least one offset missile launcher off the shoulder), but something easily explained by simple convergent evolution (there's only so many ways to depict a bipedal war machine with at least one shoulder missile launcher and big guns replacing the forearms) or even raw coincidence, and it's not something to be concerned about whatsoever.

So which ruling are we using? And does it make a difference to the Awesome/Crab?

As always, we use the ruling the GMs make.  For a home game, their word is law.

I just wanted to point out that it's a different ruling than ones used in "official" games - like using culmulative PSRs or floating crits; they won't be found in play at Origins or GenCon, or during CGL-sponsored events.  It's a clarity thing, that's all.

Hey guys, while I'm fine with the ruling, evidently the question went up on CBT not too long ago:

Truly destroyed by Homing artillery

So while this ruling is 100% good for our home games, if it came up in "official" play (say, a world-wide event or something), it'd go by this clarification.

Jesus H Christ, I've FINALLY got internet back again.

IN any case, yes, we;'re having Shadowrun this Wednesday at B/B's place.  I still haven't found my notebook and GM screen, but dammit, we're running SR regardless.  I'll make stuff up.  How hard can it be?  ;)

OK, so we're moving.  Yay.  With the baby now HERE, we'd like to see if we can basically get 85-95% moved in a single day, for sanity's sake.  So, on Sunday October 10th, from 10:30am-4:30pm, we're moving.  If anybody would like to assist, they'll get a free 6-pack of their choice at the end of the day (and NERO types - we'll have a fighter practice afterwards at 5pm), and maybe a free dinner, depending on how the money works out.

The move will involved hurried packing (since with the baby there's no way we're going to be packed in time), and other moving activities (including dealing with flights of stairs).  If you have a physical issue that prevents climbing or lifting things, you're still more than welcome to attend, because we'll need "traffic cops" and similar low-intensity jobs.

If you'd like to help out, show up at 10:15am at our apartment (2335 Alexandria Pike, Apt. 101C, Southgate KY 41071) and we'll divide people into teams.  No RSVP is necessary, although if you want to send one out, feel free.  If you've got a vehicle capable of carrying furniture and lots of boxes (truck or van), please let us know.

Thanks in advance to everyone who chooses to attend!

Rob

OK, so the Firewall IS the threshold for the Hacking+Exploit!  Good - that's what I had thought.  Thanks!

Hack on the fly (building records last night) is my hacking + exploit vs the node's firewall rather than firewall + system. It gets firewall + analyze with a threshold of my stealth to detect me.

Is that "the node's firewall" the threshold for your test, or is it an opposed roll?  It seems that if it's an opposed roll, it's almost impossible to fail to hack a node regardless of how secure it is simply by the dint of the fact that you're rolling 2 stats that range from 1-6 against a single stat that ranges from 1-6.  Having to beat the rating of the Firewall as a threshold sounds more in line with the overall RPG system.  Could you give me SR420A page references for your argument?

The 9th is preferable for me, but I can make the second work, I think.  I'm out of town on the 16th.
