Title: Apocalyse Rising Schedule Thread
Post by: Darrian Wolffe on May 30, 2011, 01:22:32 AM
As it stands now, the dates for the remainder of the campaign are as follows:

June 11th
July 2nd
EITHER July 16th or July 30th (This one NEEDS to be an all-day sort of fight; what day is better for folks?)  And EVERYONE wants to be at this game.  Trust me.
August 13th
September 10th
September 24th
October 8th
October 29th
November 12th
December 10th - PLANNED END OF CAMPAIGN (although depending on how things go and how burned out I feel, the campaign may stretch into 2012)

Please discuss or let me know about conflicts ahead of time so I can change stuffs if needed.

You and I have a conflict for the 16th, at about 9pm or so....

July the 2nd will probably be out and Sept. 24 for sure. I believe the rest should be alright.

7/30 is vastly superior to the 16th as far as my schedule goes.

Checked out my schedule and amazingly it all looks clear, avoiding a weekend out of town in July and a vacation in October.  I'm sure a conflict will arise at some point, but I should be able to make 90% of this.

I'm surprised the campaign will only last til the end of the year, tbh.  I had this feeling we'd be with this unit up through Operation Klondike.   :D

It may actually go longer...but I'm only planning to the end of the year at this point.  I've got a huge portion of the campaign written out, but I don't have a preselected ending.

I plan on being at the 2nd of July game.

The game coming up at the end of the July, I will not be able to attend. Other commitments have arisen. Sorry, I can provide my character to the game. I will get the necessary paperwork to Bryan or some one else to run my character. Phil

I'll be unable to make it to the August 13th game.

Are we having the next game on August 13th?  There was some confusion about this at the last game, with the thought being that the GenCon'ers might need a break.  I haven't seen a confirmation, one way or the other.

*Expletive Deleted* work...  I'll be there at some point.  I'm stuck doing more datacenter related crap.

Brett will be there with my sheet.  Anyone have a champion mini I can borrow?

I've got an unpainted one.  I'll get it assembled and have it with me, in case no one has a better option.  Neither Rob nor Dan have one listed on their GoogleDoc mini listings, but I have no idea how up to date those are.

There's a decent chance that I'll have to leave early on the 10th.

I should be good for the 10th but since rob may be unable to be there does anyone know what our next mission/attack will be already or is rob the only one with the idea of what is in store for us? If Rob is then no big rush he has enough on his plate.

I won't be able to make it down to Cinci this Saturday.  Someone can run my PC for me.
Title: Re: Apocalyse Rising Schedule Thread
Post by: serrate on September 22, 2011, 01:38:00 PM
I think I mentioned this already, either in person or in a thread somewhere, but I am also not able to make it to the game on Saturday.  Typically, if two games are scheduled in a month, I'll only be able to make one of them, with the rare exception.

My pilot info in the Personnel Database thread is accurate, although it doesn't include my mech quirks.  If whoever is going to be running my mech would like to PM me, I'll send along any additional details, otherwise I'll send that info to Rob.

OK, hang on.  At this point, I believe we're going to be missing 4 or 5 players.  That's untenable.  Can anyone make the FOLLOWING Saturday (the 1st)?  Post ASAP.

Looking at this thread it looks like no Phil, John or Bryan on Sat.  Anyone else?

Dan has to leave at 2-ish.  And there's no Andy.  And there's somebody else I can't recall right now.

Right now, I'm looking at either canceling the game entirely for this weekend and having the mission take place during the October 8th time slot, or moving it up a week to the 1st and having game 2 weeks in a row.
Title: Re: Apocalyse Rising Schedule Thread
Post by: phlop on September 22, 2011, 07:35:41 PM
My vote is for moving this next game to the 8th. If we game on the 1st, I won't be able to swing two weekends in a row.

OK, I just heard from others.

Game this Saturday is OFF.

We will instead be playing on the 8th (as previously scheduled!), doing the scenario that I had for this weekend.  No worries, I think this is the first time we've canceled a game in 3 years.

I WILL be at Sci-fi City at 10am this weekend with my warmachine stuff and my leviathans stuff.  Anybody who wants to show up and either play and/or shoot the shit is welcome, but I'll have to leave by 3pm to make a 4pm hockey game in Sharonville.

I can go NPC if needed as well.  I don't think I've played as NPC's once during this campaign; we've had so many people showing up on a regular basis to play OpFor, it's really been amazing.

No complaints here.  That last one ate up the whole day (although it was very enjoyable!), so I was concerned about doing another this month.  I might make it in for a little while for whatever else gets planned, but no guarantees at this point.

Title: Re: Apocalyse Rising Schedule Thread

Yes, it is.  Sorry, everybody.  I'm doing a favor for a friend, and I don't beg off of stuff like that.  Our game on the 12th is still on.  Story fiction and plot advancement (along with your XP rewards and carry-over karma for Brett) will go up either late today or early tomorrow.

For those of you wondering, I no longer work on the campaign during the week because that's when I'm job-hunting.  Therefore, when I have paying gigs or such on a weekend (like this last weekend), I don't get a lot done.  So if anybody knows about job openings anywhere, if I can free up my weekdays, the campaign progress will resume as it was when I was gainfully employed.

As a general note, we'll be resuming the 1 game per 3-ish weeks schedule in January - November and December have only 1 game each for a reason.  Namely, people ain't gonna be here.

Title: Re: Apocalyse Rising Schedule Thread

The next game will be Jan 21st.  I will attempt to throw up a schedule for most of the rest of the year ASAP, but coordination will take some time.

Maria and Elessar are both gone this entire weekend, so I should have the chance to catch up on the campaign and move you guys along, time-wise, via story fiction.

If you do NOT have a PC at this time (or your PC has been killed off), you may generate a new PC in the "master PC creation thread" here (http://forums.cincybattletech.com/index.php?topic=179.0).  BattleMech allocation rules are going to change slightly (essentially, you'll have access to any non-unique SL BattleMech that's 4/6/4 or faster, instead of 5/8/0 or faster).  If you spent character points to choose your own BattleMech and it came with you off of Terra, you still have it.  If you spent CP to choose your own battleMech and it didn't come with you off of Terra, you'll be able to choose a new one.  If you didn't spend CP to choose a mech, then you'll be assigned one that's 4/6/4 or faster as per the needs of the service.  However, with the loss of the Manufacturing facilities for them on Terra, access to Royal BattleMechs is NOT assured.

Additionally, Steve, I'm currently embroiled in a discussing regarding air-to-ground attack on airborne LAMs.  Specifically, regarding attacking the hex the Mech is in with an area-effect weapon, not the Mech itself.  That question wasn't answered in my CBT.com question, whereas it's clear that you can't attack the Mech itself.  I'll get to you once we've hashed out an answer on whether or not the LAM takes any damage; the example regarding buildings being in the hex as the indicator of a WiGE taking damage from an area-effect attack is not currently seen by myself nor the rules team as a conclusive precedent "for" or "against".  I just wanted to keep you in the loop.

BRETT:  You may create a new PC as per the character creation rules.  Once that character is done and approved, you will recieve a portion of your extant XP to upgrade the PC you've created.  It will be a significant portion.  It will not be all of it.

Rob, I didn't spend points to choose my battlemech, however my PXH-1b did make it off Terra with us.  Do I get to keep it?

Probably not (all Royal Mech availability is a random roll).  Recall the Master Rules thread - "found" battleMechs will generally last until you have the opportunity to re-connect with your logistics train (usually the end of a story arc where you're separated from said Mech).

For clarification purposes, it was the PXH-1b that I was issued at the start of the campaign, not a PXH-1b that we salvaged at some point.  Does it still count as a found battlemech?

Oh, right.  Then no, you'll still have it until you get shot out of it.  All bets are off afterwards, though.

There is almost certainly not going to be a February game.  If there is, it would be the 25th.  The March game, however, will be the 24th, and I'd like to play on both the 7th and 28th of April, if possible.

I'm working on a new Mech for you too, Jon.  My car threw its timing chain and destroyed the engine, so I'm slightly preoccupied.

I'm sorry, but the next game will be March 24th.

As it currently stands, I hope to be visiting family in Texas (yes, TEXAS! /drops a nuke on Herb's cat) on that date, and will not be able to make it.  That is somewhat contingent on whether or not things get settled with this flood situation, but that's the plan for now.

Do we have a tentative date set for an April game yet?

Rob is currently sobering up so I'm posting this instead.

Right now it looks like there may not be a March game, due to the lack of play space at SciFi City.

Can we get the library for March 31st by chance?
Title: Re: Apocalyse Rising Schedule Thread

I will check the library's schedule for the 24th and 31st.  By the way, I may not be able to make the 31st.

I just checked.  The first opening at the Groesbeck library is April 28.  It is then booked all of May.  Bummer.

For the 24th, has anyone checked with Eastside Games? They have several gaming tables. I know it is on the other side of town, but no difference in distance for me. There is also a game store on Beechmont, not sure of the name.

Rob..I know that accuracy is a big thing right now, but could you not phys rep the transport time so accurately?

(2 things: 1) I know that if we actually properly represented transit times, we might play 2x a year at best.  :-X
2) for those not in the know on the lingo phys-rep is physically represent)

On a more serious note, thank you so much for putting everything together so that we can play, and having done it for many years without a real break.

No worries man! Stuff happens. We all love playing, and we all get along, so no reason this should impact the life of the campaign. It might help to put up a thread for April and see what Saturdays are available for everyone. Then we could choose the one that's most likely to have the best attendance.

As Mike said, thanks for running this thing!

OK, Word of God:

We are not playing BT in December.  There's just too many people whom it won't work for.

The Dates for the campaign right now are as follows:

January 12th
February 2nd
February 23rd
March 23rd
April 13th
May 18th
June 29th
July 20th
August 3rd
September 7th
October 5th
October 26th
November 9th
December 7th

Check your calendars.  I do this so early so we can make sure we're all here for games.

Additionally, I would like a general "get-together" for whomever would like to show up on December 15th.  We're not having the BT campaign, but we can have a general game day for people.  Bring Magic Cards, try out quick-strike, play leviathans...whatever.

Additionally, please check the General Discussion forum, where I'm collecting people's opinions regarding the NEXT campaign after Apocalypse Rising closes.

Works for me.  Only thing that needs to be accomplished for my game is determining players before GenCon, so that people can get minis if they need them.  After that I'm good starting whenever.

Do we want to still have a game on the 20th, and just do a pickup game or something?
Title: Re: Apocalyse Rising Schedule Thread

I'm okay.  As Travis said, when we get the players set, we can get characters created and buy mini's at GenCon if needed.
Title: Re: Apocalyse Rising Schedule Thread
Post by: Hat on July 09, 2013, 09:08:22 AM
I'm ok if we want to work on characters and do something else.  It'd be nice to be able to talk about what people are building.

For Travis' game, I expect it makes sense for the new PCs to select the set of starting units.

For Steve's game I'm curious how Aerospace elements will be handled / integrated into standard games.  For units, do the XP expenditures for heavy and assault apply to vehicles and Aerospace fighters as well?

Will there be an option to change the 'Mechs for PCs moving from AR to ID?

Assuming that the characters survive, what are the implications for continuing characters given age?  Yamamori is the youngest PC I believe and he'll be 77 when Klondike starts, though Steve mentioned potentially doing something between the beginning of the Exodus and Klondike, likely the Petagon Civil War.

For Steve's game, should we be looking at a particular Clan for preferred last names for new characters, or at least the bloodlines in general?  It could be helpful for Steve or someone to bring the Klondike book for the bloodnames to the game on the 20th.

I'll post the ID stuff in that thread as it probably makes more sense to answer there than here, but I think all of those questions at a minimum need to be answered before people can finalize characters and unit selection.  The goal being in time to take orders to GenCon.

OK, so:

Effective Immediately: the game on July 20th is a pick-up game day.  Campaign will resume August 3rd.  Steve & Travis will be at the store to answer questions.  Hey Bryan: you've talked about wanting to GM something.  Give us a pick-up game.

My church just moved the administration council meeting to the 3rd, and so I will not be able to be at the game until after the lunch break.  I will get my mini and sheet to someone.

My post-GenCon film shooting schedule was extended by a week yesterday, and now we're filming on the 7th of September.

So, QUICKLY, which date in September can people make more easily?

The 14th, or the 21st?

Rob, honestly?  Neither.  My anniversary is the 15th, my wife's birthday is the 22nd.  The 29th is my son's birthday.  Is early Oct an option if  the 7th won't work?

I won't have any idea until late August, so just go with whatever date works better for everyone else and I'll try my best to make it.

I can do either, but the 21st is slightly superior.

I am not sure about Sept. I have a granddaughter that is turning 18 and so don't know what my wife has set up for that. My wifes birthday is later in the month, so I can count on the weekend of the 21st probably being tied up. The granddaughter birthday is, I believe will be celebrated the 7th weekend. So the 17th.
Side note, Sat. I have to go to IWM at some point. I am getting the DCMS that I shot for Alpha Strike to Southpaw for use at Gencon. He is running some demos of A. S. Waiting to hear back from him.

Due to that whole buying a house thing, September just flat out sucks for me.
