Sabre sounds fun but as I will only be here for part of whatever contract and then leave the group for a few years, I would count my vote more as a tiebreaker if needed.

Nothing for Spectre

An initial scan of the battlefield showed some scattered mounds and a few larger hills. Noticing the formation of the enemy troops, Spectre decided that the Southwestern hills could provide cover and allow either an unharried advance to close ranks or to wait and ambush the troops that would advance at Spectre. In the end, both happened.

The battle started by gaining cover, though a miscalculation allowed long range fire to build up against the liaison Wolverine, the only mech to not be hidden by the hills. Such a mistake was not repeated. Marauder and Banshee moved along to attempt to flank on the Western side, with the Wolverine, Black Knight, and Penetrator holding back. The Sprint helicopters nearly immediately engaged the rear ranks, but were unsupported due to the hills shielding away fire. The next victim of suicide missions was the Dragon, which closed significantly faster than the trio of other heavy mechs. The Marauder and Banshee, having fully gone around the Western hill by this point, drew fire while the others tore apart the Dragon.

Finally, the light lance finished flanking and the Hankyu dealt a large amount of damage into the backside of the Wolverine, with the continued split of Banshee and Marauder against Guillotine and Hellbringer - and drawing the Orion's fire - while the Wolverine, Black Knight, and Penetrator take down the lights, a trend that would continue until there was almost nothing left to split against. After a short spurt of close range fire and melee attacks, the field splits apart again. This time, the Banshee and Penetrator flanked on either side and the damaged Marauder and Wolverine going up against the tanks and Wasp. The Guillotine falls, having taken heavy fire for several rounds. Around this time the Hankyu falls, the Wasp and one of the Galleon tanks following soon after.

The Penetrator would continue to advance and the Marauder and Wolverine retreat, until the Marauder seeks partial cover, misjudging the speed of the Hellbringer. In a single round of fire, the Hellbringer is on the ground, and the Marauder powers down when a hit against its Gauss Rifle destroys the torso, disabling the XL engine. The Hellbringer stands back up and staggers into nearby light woods, but falls to the Penetrator as the Banshee finishes off the Panther.

With little left, the Banshee finally retreats, having lost most of its Gauss ammo and ERPPC earlier, and is pursued by the remaining Galleon. Simultaneously, the Wolverine retreats to the Southwest. Soon, the Jenner and final Galleon tank falls, and the Black Knight and Penetrator close in on and blow the head off of the Orion.

In summary, a near total success. Minor internal damage to all except the Marauder, with moderate damage to the armor of the Wolverine and Banshee in exchange for a total wipe of the opposing forces. Spectre captured the Hellbringer and Dragon pilots, and took the Orion and Panther as salvage. The star of the battle was the Penetrator, with six total kills, four of which were mechs - a full half of the forces arranged against Spectre.

Good enough. Generate, please.

The Rangers received a call to come immediately to extract a group of Federated Commonwealth who were cut off to the West. Due to the suddenness of the order, a collection of Lances from all three companies joined forces to provide cover.

Between the Rangers and the Federated Commonwealth extraction targets, the Drac opfor had a Commcenter along a South-flowing river that started at a deep pool reservoir. While the Drac were deployed mostly in a line, the Rangers noticed a Southern Lance that would have quickly started firing into the Federated Commonwealth unit, and sent word to the Federated Commonwealth to push to the North-East.

The Rangers sent Marigold ahead to open up a pathway for the Federated Commonwealth units to come through, and Marigold entered in from the North and began to push Southward. While Marigold did help to reduce the strength of the Drac forces, it was unable to draw the fire that was being sent against the extraction targets.

Turrets, including a pair of dual-Sniper artillery turrets, provided a high amount of potential damage, and as such, were targets. Fury and Jazz, who were deployed more Southward, dealt with the turrets and a lance of lighter mechs before swinging North to provide cover fire for the extraction.

Without the turrets to deal with and the Drac ground units busy, the Rangers used their air superiority to deliver crippling blows to several opfor mechs through a series of heavy bombing strikes.

Spectre and Blitzkrieg pushed West from the North-East, dealing with the few elements of the opfor that were most to the East at the time, though their fire only started closing in later, as the Federated Commonwealth units passed through Marigold's tunnel and the Drac reinforcements entered from the West.

The Federated Commonwealth units, for their part, provided a solid amount of firepower as they pushed East.

As the two lines of Rangers came together, the Drac base and units collapsed, as the outmaneuvering gave them no chance of stabilizing the fight. They therefore only managed to deal serious damage to half a dozen or so of the Ranger and Federated Commonwealth mechs while the Drac forces were wiped utterly. Overall, a successful end to the contract.

After Action Report:

Entered between their two sets of forces and worked in from a range. Lost the war at range and lost the Buccaneer to an unfortunate hit to its ammo. Pulled back and around towards their weaker force. Dealt with the opposing light 'Mechs while working our way in, and eventually pressed incorrectly to brutal results. Took out several, but returning fire from the distant hill devastated Black Knight. Took out a few more on the way out but the Nightsky was forced to power down due to engine damage and Black Knight lost its left torso. In summary, a high cost for both sides, though it counts as a mission success.
