I would expect May to at least not be there because of the units returning from the periphery. But that would mean Feb, Mar and Apr just got removed for reasons.

Yes and no. In reality, you are certainly correct. In AtB world, the future is uncertain. Remember that there are already parts and such on world. Of course the same logic would apply when "pirates" are heavily raiding your planet. The question becomes one of do the merchants:
A. Go underground and pull their stock down the hole with them.
B. Sell their wares at patriotic discounts to the valiant mercs defending their world
C. Get cleaned out by the House units, leaving the mercs hung out to dry
or D. Immediately increase prices by 5,000,000% and smile to your face while selling you back the bug you sold them a month ago.
These Merchants are Lyran, so...

Remember that the market pattern is supposed to be January and July only for non-combat months. This was why I said people were hiring from the January market for may retirees.
