Ranger Ribbon Rack and awards
« on: January 07, 2022, 09:53:37 AM »

So one of the things I'm curious about are the decorations especially service ribbons that would be awarded by the houses and arguably by the Rangers.  I imagine that any character that participated in the War of '39 for example would have a campaign ribbon.  Doing a bit of research it looks like ribbon color and design are country and sometimes branch specific, though campaign ribbons may be applied across branches.  Any thoughts on designs if I wanted to put things together for the various contracts we've done so far to flesh out the ribbon bars that Lance commanders have?

Also, attached is my sanitized list of generally-available awards (with the TNs and game effects removed) for the campaign.  As this is a Word document, note that you can pull out the images for the ribbons and use them to build your own ribbon rack.  I don't have anything for the specific campaigns/contracts which the Rangers have participated in; that would get pretty unwieldy, pretty quickly.  That sort of thing would probably be better represented with "service stripes" down the sleeve of a uniform, or something similar.

What service stripes may look like; in our campaign, 1 stripe representing 3 contracts is probably about right. IRL service stripes represent 2-4 years of duty each depending on service branch, and 3 contracts seems to require 2-3 in-game years to complete under normal circumstances.

Oh, and do please note that several canonical awards do not appear in this document; awards which are not earnable by mercenaries do not appear in this document.

"But GM!", I hear you say, "there aren't any awards earnable by mercenaries for the Draconis Combine at all!"
"Yes," I reply. "That's correct.  How about that?"

Actually Hartman's missing her St. Ives Commendation Ribbon (Running Horse, 3045), Group 3, so 1st Row, Right spot, bumping the others over and I believe moving the Tukayyid Ribbon to the middle of Row 3?

Looking at your Order of Precedence, it looks like CapCon 1st Degree and 4th Degree are reversed as the higher the number the more prestigious the award.

It would also appear that the CapCon Grand Cordon of Merit (Group 1) and CapCon Ribbon of Conspicuous Heroism (Group 2) are reversed assuming that the CapCon Order of Merit and Grand Cordon of Merit are the same thing.  I couldn't otherwise find a reference to the Order of Merit and the Grand Cordon isn't in your list.  The note for the Grand Cordon is that it is often a preliminary award on the way to the Conspicuous Heroism award.
