NORTH

SOUTH

Maps
Open Terrain 2..........Battletech
Scattered Woods.......Open Terrain 2

Deployment
Ranger Deployment: The Rangers enter the western edge of the board on their initiative on Turn 1.

OPFOR Deployment: Deploy into the Blue Zones on the eastern side of the board (full hexes only).  No zone can hold more than 3 total Mechs.  Each KGC must deploy a into non-adjacent Blue Zone relative to the other KGC (ex. the player deploys a KGC each into Blue Zones 1 & 3).

Environmental Effects:
Medium Woods:  ALL Woods hexes on the Open Terrain and BattleTech mapsheets are Heavy Woods.  The Scattered Woods map is unaffected.

Low Gravity: Jumping MP are not affected by 0.7-g conditions.  Recalculate all Walking/Cruising MP values to the following, and then figure Running MP from there:
Walk 3 = 4/6
Walk 4 = 6/9
Walk 5 = 7/11
Walk 6 = 9/14
Walk 7 = 10/15
Walk 8 = 11/17
If Running MP are used, and the Running MP used during that turn's movement phase is GREATER than the standard Running MP of the unit (ie, a 4/6 Grasshopper recalculates its movement to 6/9, and then Runs 8 hexes), make a PSR at the end of that move, using all standard modifiers, and an additional +1 penalty.  If the unit fails, each leg takes 1 point of Structure damage for EACH "overage" MP spent that turn (in this case, each leg of the Grasshopper would suffer 2 automatic Structure damage), and a Determining Critical Hits Table roll is made for each leg.  In the case of Vehicles, only the Front arc takes internal damage, and an automatic Motive Critical roll is made (counts as a "front" hit, and the motive type adds no modifier).  VTOLs and WiGE units do not modify their MP and are therefore not subject to this internal damage as long as they spend airborne MP.

All Piloting skill rolls to stay standing and avoid skidding suffer a +1 penalty; this DOES effect VTOLs, WiGE units, and penalizes the TN to send an ASF out of control (or shootdown checks) by 1 as well.

Infantry gain a flat +1 MP, and have no chance of damage as a result of using the extra MP.

All direct-fire ballistic and missile weapon attacks suffer a +1 penalty to hit.

All BattleMech fall damage is reduced by 1 point (in the second grouping, if two groupings apply), and the PSR to avoid damage from falls is reduced by 1 point (a TN 5 PSR is a 4, instead).

Battlefield Support
None.

PC Victory Conditions:
1) Destroy or cripple at least 3 of the Ariguan Coalition Mechs
2) Have 3 units or fewer rendered incapable of spending MP, one of which must be the liaision

OPFOR Victory Conditions:
1) Destroy or render at least 3 Wolverine Mechs incapable of spending MP at the end of the game.
3) Destroy or render the liasion unit incapable of spending MP at the end of the game

Misc Rules
1) Exiting the battlefield requires a unit to remain stationary at the board edge for 1 turn.  Only a single spent MP is required to move offboard (ie, the environmental MP penalties doesn't apply; or, more specifically, the Minimum Movement rule overrides it).

2) Captured MechWarriors receive a +2 TN penalty to recruit.  Until they are recruited, MechWarriors have a small chance of attempting a breakout each month, which may result in injury or death to Lance Wingmen. Captured MechWarriors from this scenario cannot be ransomed.

3) OPFOR MechWarriors will attempt to capture ejected PC MechWarriors during this scenario, instead of shooting them.

After Mission Report (4-28-54):
During our probing mission, we encountered enemy forces escorting 2 King Crabs. We took a defensive position by some hills on the West side of the battlefield. The King Crabs mirrored our tactics and set up as fire support behind some hills on the Eastern side of the battlefield while the remaining 6 units split into 2 groups, moving along the Northern and Southern sides of the battlefield. SGT Morley, driving the Wolverine II WVR-7HLx, advanced to match the enemy on the Northern front, while SGT Kazazain, driving the Wolverine II WVR-7HLxC2, moved to match the enemy on the Southern front. Meanwhile, the remainder of our forces remained in a defensive position and acted as fire support, drawing the fire of the King Crabs.
Kazazain reports seeing a strange insignia displayed underneath the cockpit of the Shadow Hawk 2D, and after seeing some images, it seems familiar, but I have never seen it before. It had a horizontal slate grey bar, with several black stars, and a single silver star of identical size placed in the center. Might not be anything, but I wasn’t sure if it would mean anything to you.
In total, after engaging the enemy, we managed to take down 6 of the enemy units, including one of the King Crabs. After that, we allowed the remaining enemy forces to retreat, and sent in our salvage teams to secure the remains of the destroyed King Crab. Damage to our forces were minimal, with major armor damage, but only minor internal damage, and a single lost limb on the Wolverine II WVR-7HLxC2.

Excellent work, Lieutenant.  For proper contract management we need to know what all was destroyed to properly determine the remaining salvage to add to the main contract.  Please identify all units destroyed.

Unfortunately, that's not permitted by the rules.  v4.5, p. 49:

Salvage: The Lance Leader has total control of any and all salvage recovered during a Solo Mission. They are still bound by the percentages listed in the contract (ie, if your contract is 40% salvage, you can salvage up to 4 million CB worth of units from the 10 million CB lance you just fought), and may not go into "salvage debt".  Any room which the unit has under the salvage cap has no effect on the amount salvagable in Solo Missions.

There's a bit more in that section, but not pertinent to the question.  You can take any of the others if they're worth salvaging.   Sorry I don't have better news.

Doesn't seem fair with it being a solo mission. But the Wolverine WVR-6R, 4,778,857 CB, will be salvaged instead. Amount to be added to the GROUPS salvage pool is 15,264,764 CB.

My hands are tied.  You're welcome to take it up with Rob but I really have no control over it.  If I could give you the extra salvage cap, I would.

As discussed, this ONE TIME ONLY, we're going to set the rules aside and give you what you were clearly working toward and could have easily done had a rules misinterpretation not occurred.

ALL of the available salvage value generated by Wolverine Lance is used up in acquiring the King Crab.  The remaining salvage value which was required to get the King Crab (2,151,479) will be deducted in cash from Wolverine's warehouse.  This is the group's only mulligan on this topic.

Also as a reminder, the salvage value which is added to the unit funds is the total REMAINDER of what is left after the solo mission salvage has completed.  If it's a 50% salvage mission, the solo has 20 million in total value, and the solo player kills 10 million in STUFF, the salvage value is 10 million.  If he takes a 8.5 million CB Mech with that 10 million in salvage, the remaining 1.5 million is added to the group, not the 10 million total salvage value. Apologies for the confusion; the wording did not work this way, but applying the order of operations did, and it's my fault that there was a disconnect. I totally see how and why it was interpreted as it was.

There's a mistake in the above math.  Either, he's killed 10MM worth of stuff and at 50% salvage, he can select up to 5MM and all of the balance goes to the unit, or he's killed 10MM worth of stuff, can select up to 10MM worth of stuff (say 8.5MM) and then half of what's left (1.5MM) goes to the unit.  Please confirm where in the process you're applying the 50%.  Thanks.
