I have my mech painted and do not have any SLDF decals. I am waiting on an order and on my next order will probably include a sheet at that time. If anyone has a spare or 2 it would be appreciated. May try and trade with Cyttorak over on LotB forum. Have to get the base and some numbers on the mini. Maybe tonight, have a mini to finish for the mini exchange on Battltech Universe. Almost done.

I'll have a sheet of SL emblems I can cut some off of at the game Saturday.  And yeah, OD can range from VERY light to VERY dark.  It's not really even a "color" - it's more of a range of colors.  Highlighting it is a PITA too - you can't use just a regular green hue to highlight it, you have to use a mix of yellow, green, and brown formulated to your particular OD shade.   I use Vallejo Brown-Violet (70887) and Vallejo Green-grey (70886, IIRC) over a grey (NOT black!) primer - the B-V is the OD shade, and the G-G is the highlight.  That's the color combo that the Flames of War guys have found to be the "best" OD, and I trust their judgement.

Mike, the TO&E is updated.  Sorry about that.

I'm having difficulty hunting down an unpainted, unseen Phoenix Hawk mini that is within my budget, so I'll probably just cave and order the reseen version.  Either way, I'm not going to have an appropriately painted mini by Saturday.

Reseens are always fine, man.  We're not mini-snobs.  ;)

On Lords of the Battlefield, a guy named gearhead has one for sale. It does not have the jump jets. It is the only unseen I can find right quick.

I know, however I'd rather have a "historically accurate" phoenix hawk model instead of one representing the 3067 and later variants given the option.

Thanks for looking for me, however I'm probably going to just order a reseen one from ironwind since I was planning on ordering some more blakist mechs anyways.

I'm a confirmed permanent NPC for this campaign as of now.  I may jump in as an ally NPC at some point, but with recent events, I can't really get into this at a level the rest of the group deserves right now.

Oh, for any painters out there who care:

The original SLDF paint scheme is solid Olive Drab across the entire Mech.  SLDF insignia (sideways star) goes on the left torso, and the unit number goes on the left leg.  Specific unit insignia or pilot's personal insignia goes on the right torso.  Unit numbers are usually white-on-black or black-on-white.  "Nose Art", if any, goes alongside the cockpit, or replaces the unit insignia on the right torso.  IIRC, Gunslinger badges and sundry go on the right torso or right leg.

I've got a question about this.  In Field Manual: FS, the Deneb Light Cavalry units are described thusly: "The subordinate regiments of the DLC prefer the SLDF's standard light tan paint scheme, even when circumstances would tend to dictate otherwise."

I swear in my meanderings around either Sarna.net or Camospecs last week, I spotted another unit with SLDF ties that was also said to stick to their original "tan" paint scheme, although the exact unit escapes me.

So, did the SLDF paint some regiments in tan, and others in olive drab?  It would appear that the reference to "tan" SLDF hasn't been retconned out, since Camospecs still lists that same reference for the Deneb Light Cavalry.  Camospecs also lists the Eridani Light Horse as sticking to their original SLDF olive drab.  To me, it seems both would be correct:  The SLDF painted their units as either tan or olive drab.

Thoughts?

My reference was the Star League Sourcebook, which said OD.

It's possible that some regiments were tan...but the difference between dark tan and faded OD can be VERY slim - especially because OD isn't really a specific color but a range of colors.

I've seen references to both the standard SLDF olive drab paint scheme and standard SLDF tan paint scheme.  I always just assumed this meant the SLDF had two different standard paint schemes with units able to choose which scheme to paint their machines in.

Thanks for the responses.  Seems like I'd be perfectly within my rights to paint up a tan SLDF unit or four.  I've got a few mechs in need of being painted as SLDF, but I didn't necessarily want them all as OD if there are other options.

Rob, also sent you a PM or 3 over the last few days.  Just mentioning it in case you didn't see it, since this forum doesn't make it real obvious.
