IC: 24 Feb - 21 November, 2766

First Sergeant Ryan Prust could only look on in horror at the after action reports that was handed to him as part of his investigation into the incident of friendly fire involving a high officer.  While they had captured Ney several members of the unit had been shot out of their machines and the manner which they were recovered.

Muttering to himself about this band of miscreants and maniacs, the damage bill rolled by his dataslate.  Loss of a 3Nb Sentinel, which was salvaged by the enemy, a valuable Phoenix Hawk LAM, which was destroyed via air strike immediately after the extraction ship lifted off.  Even more bizarre was one of the security camera videos showing a Toyota Hilux driving into the dropship at high speeds while blaring an ungodly racket from its horn.  Even more inexplicable was the kill markers painted on the side and the declaration of spoils of war.  Adding to the icing on the cake, said Mechwarrior wanted to find a way to modify his replacement machine to have the Hilux as an escape vehicle...

Reaching for the bottle of Taurian Ale he kept under his desk, poured three fingers into a collapsible field cup and downing the fiery liquid in one pull.  Then his dataslate beeped, indicating the arrival of a new message from high command.

WO Franklin was getting nervous on the trip back to Terra.  For the first few weeks, he bothered Srg. Prust until he finaly agreed to go to the dropship range, and re-certified in basic pistol and rifle.  After demonstrating his proficiency in the small arms, he paced about the ship incessantly, eventually coming to rest in the library of the dropship.

For those coming to the library, Franklin's books grow increasingly weird.  He starts out reading Basic Refresher on Proper Procedure when Communicating with Command Level Officers and Your Wonderful Legal Protections.  As the months go by, books and treatises such as Advancing Legal Argument for NonCommand Level Officers and Bork's Tips for Being Questioned by a Panel become more common.  And always on one datascreen is the regulations of the SLDF and associated code.  Franklin reads a lot, studying for the future.

((OOC:  Spend 30 XP for Small Arms +1, spend 90 XP for Protocal:SLDF +2,+3.  Spend 30 XP to refresh 1 point edge.  Total XP: 150))

With the capture of Marshal Ney, resistance on New Vandenburg crumbles.  Within two weeks, the lion's share of resistance is wiped from the planet.  Civilian and partisan resistance will continue for some time, but it seems that New Vandenburg has been, as Colonel Jansfield puts it, "pacified".  The cost is larger than estimated; something close to 9,000 SLDF troops have been killed and another 4,000 wounded (mainly from the Mechanized Infantry Divisions; modern  weaponry reverses the traditional ratio of 3-5 wounded for every man killed).  Taurian casualties are estimated at 50,000 killed and wounded, with about three-quarters of a million civilians killed, wounded or displaced.  By the standards of modern war, and rather tidy operation, even with the unexpected use of WMDs.

You stay on-planet for the remainder of Febraruy and all of March, resting and trying to recuperate.  You've recieved your orders once combat operations effectively ceased - return to Terra and answer the charges stemming from the unfortunate incident with the 125th Battle Regiment - but the length of the trip and number of jumps involved mean that everyone involved needs to be healthy, and SGT Marshall's recuperation from Gauss-induced neural feedback takes the better part of a month.  (GM: All pilot damage to all PCs is healed)  Thus, it's on April 2nd, 2766, that you lift off aboard the Argo to rendezvous with the JumpShip that will carry you on the slow road back to humanity's homeworld.

Re-posting this in the correct thread:

Rob, I'll spend 70 xp to get Sensor Operations +2 and 70 xp to get Artillery +2.

Edit: Second question was answered via pm.

While travelling back to Earth, Banzai completes his reports on the now destroyed LAM.  Additionally, he plans new weapon systems upgrades for a new LAM.  Lastly, he attempts (using his engineering skill) to fulfill Sgt Marshall's request for his next mech to be modified to fit the Toyota Hilux as the "escape vehicle."  (GM--Banzai will need specs for the Hilux and an idea what will be Sgt Marshall's next mech to start the process.)
