I started on these hovers a long time ago but as usual, I am just poking along. I tried to copy a scheme used in the old Camospecs book. I have a couple of other hovers & a Jenner I was going to put in the same scheme. I haven't been able to paint much lately, and as I got into home brewing , thats eaten into somemore of my spare time..but its been enjoyable
As for magnifiers & light, I bought one of those portable Ott lites from Lowes and I found that to be useful for getting extra light where its needed. I also bought one of those magnifiers on the flexible arm that has sometimes been handy. I bought a small LED light that is on a flexible line that I rubber banded to the magnifier arm when I want even more light. But I usually just take off my glasses or look over the top of them when painting details. I also find magnifiers tough on the depth perception plus its not as easy for me to stay focused on one point for very long.
That scheme looks great!! I'm looking forward to seeing the full lance of hovers and the Jenner too. Excellent camo work!
Get yourself to a game sometime!
I haven't been able to sleep well all week, so I took the time to get some baby-free work done. Thing is, I'm kinda sick of BattleTech minis right now, so I've painted up a mess of Warhammer Fantasy Brettonians that have been sitting on my shelf unpainted for something like five years now. These are still WiP, but it'll get the idea across.
I also got a bunch of AreoTech microfighters done (like, 17 bases worth), but the camera won't focus correctly on them. I'll put them up once I figure it out.
I hope the job search is going well Rob.
I like those mounted units, the visual effect of the different paint-jobs seems like it would really be pleasing when they're all grouped together. Do you actually play WH Fantasy, or do you just have a random collection of the minis?
Let's see your microfighters! Over the past few nights I've been basing mine. I had planned to try out the multi-holed bases, but I couldn't really figure out the best way to make use of them. And since I had quite a few standard flight bases around, I've decided to go with those. I'm basing 3 microfighters per base to represent a Squadron. I'm also basing some single fighters on the single micro-fighter bases (

There didn't really seem to be a "best" way to base microfighters, I suppose it's somewhat similar to basing BA and infantry in that respect; but I'm satisfied with how everything is coming out. At least I was able to settle on a system. It's cool to see a small fleet coming together. So far, assembled and based, I've got a Black Lion, 2x Congress Frigates, 1 Union DS, 2x Thunderbird squadron, Zero squadron, Thrush squadron, and some flights (single micro) of a few others.
I'll get a few more based and try to post up the unpainted WIP's tonight.
