Yeah, I know...screw Harmony Gold.

Aside from that, check this out:  http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rrpgt/robotech-rpg-tacticstm

The Battle Cry level is $140, and is netting you something like $500 in product thus far.  They're CLOSE to being in scale with BT minis (the Veritechs are too large, but the Destroids are pretty close, and the Marauder-analogue is about the size of the old BattleDroids Marauder).  I jumped in at the $140 level, because it simply became too good a deal, about a product I like and am nostalgia-ing the SHIT out of, to not do it.

I'm not saying get it, and I'm SURE not saying it's better for me than BattleTech.  I just want to make sure that all of us out there get a chance to see it and make a decision for ourselves.

Here's the image showing everything $140 gets you:

I watched this KS from the first day. And first of all, those guys at Ninja Division seriously know how to run a kickstarter. The way they had constant updates, free stuff, cheap add-ons, etc... well, I really hope CGL and even IWM were paying attention (and paying attention to the Reaper Bones KS as well). This was a KickStarter clinic. I even liked how they handled ongoing criticism in the comments section, addressing questions and concerns but not feeding the trolls.

As for Harmony Gold, well yea I wish they'd give us back our unseen, but it was their license to begin with and they can do what they want with it. It's not like there aren't some skeletons in CGL's closet; but it does grate that HG seems to be nothing more than an entity that lucked into an entertainment-related license 30 years ago and really don't have a clue what to do with it. Regardless, this is now a source for unseen Marauders, LAM's, and bug meks... HUZZAH!!

I was still following this when my vacation started, and at about the 3 hours left level I told my wife that we needed to talk.  :D

Fortunately, she was cool with it, although it means I'll be buying a used bicycle for the summer and not a new one. But yes, this was far too good a deal to pass up. I finally backed it at the Battle Cry level with 82 minutes to go. I can't believe I've got to wait until December for this stuff, but I'm guessing I'll be able to get my hands on at least a sample mini at GenCon. I look forward to seeing what a company of LAM's can really do, but I'm also interested in trying out the Robotech ruleset.

Just an update, Ninja Division will be sending out a survey, as well as setting up a new pledge manager soon. If I understand correctly, this will allow backers to update their pledges, and either add some of the add-on items or possibly even take their pledge to a different level (for instance, go from BattleCry to Showdown, which doubles the BattleCry pledge). I'll provide the details once I get them.

Anyway, the reason I'm bringing this up, is for anyone who didn't get in as a backer. Perhaps you didn't want the game but you'd be interested in a MK II Monster, or an upgrade pack of Destroids, or something else. Just letting you all know that I'd be willing to add whatever you want to my pledge, as long as I can. For instance, if you wanted the full BattleCry package, I could potentially upgrade my pledge to Showdown and we'd both be getting BattleCry, or if 3 more people wanted BattleCry, I could upgrade to Reckless. I don't know for sure if that will all be available, and whether or not pricing will change, but I'll let you know.

Update from the Palladium website, and copied to the kickstarter comment pages:

UPDATE: Robotech® RPG Tactics™ Kickstarter

Kickstarter supporters, it will take a little while for us to get the survey sent out to you. Shortly after we get the survey back from you, Palladium Books will set up the Online Pledge Manager, and you will get an invitation for it. This will be set up like a store, exclusive to Kickstarter Backers, in which you will indicate which add-on items you wanted, and you can even add to your pledge should you desire to do so.

Did your pledge not go through, but you want to participate? Fear not, we will work something out for you. Palladium has been contacted by a number of Kickstarter supporters whose pledges were not processed for one reason or another. If that includes you, please contact Palladium Books, give us your contact information, the amount you pledged for which level, and the add-ons you want, and we WILL make sure you ARE included in the Pledge Manager and receive everything you want.

Did you miss out completely and wish you could have participated? Keep your eyes on the Palladium Website and these Weekly Updates. We are looking into ways to allow you to participate for a limited time. No promises, but give us some time to see if we can get you included.

All of this should be in place by the end of June or sooner. Palladium’s whiz kid, Rex Barkdoll, is already on it and working on getting everything set up to process and prepare Kickstarter pledges.

Release date for the physical Kickstarter pledge items: Fall, probably November sometime, before product is shipped to distributors. Sooner if possible. The Palladium and Ninja Division crews are working away.

Since the whole HG lawsuit came up, I thought I'd post an update.

The BackerKit is now active, which allows Kickstarter backers to upgrade their original pledges. Without a doubt, the BEST deal is BattleCry ($140). It's the core game plus extra, and also includes tons of unlocked rewards. This will be available until August 31st.

There are other things that can be purchased separately as well, such as the Mk II Monster, if you're interested. Not being pushy or anything. IF you wish you had got in on the Kickstarter, you still can by just adding an upgrade to my pledge. In fact, adding a BattleCry to my pledge will lower the cost of both of ours by $10 ($130 each) by taking my pledge to the SHOWDOWN level, so an even better deal. Again, just an option, I'm not trying to talk anyone into doing this.  :)

Rob's pic showing what you get is out of date, quite a few more items have been added. Here's the most current:
