IC] 2 April, 2822: Back in Black
« on: January 04, 2015, 11:09:11 AM »

The campaign on Circe is finally over, although it took longer than planned.  The Clans on Circe [Mongoose, Nova Cat, Snow Raven and Wolverine] all took more damage than expected.  The Wolverine Strikers faired the best of all individual units.

The Clans as a whole are still reeling from the events of 1 December, 2821, on the planet Eden.  Andery Kerensky, brother of the Ilkhan, was ambushed and killed while on a lone patrol in the city of Novy Moscva.  Clan Wolf, with whom Andery had been fighting, abandoned their calm and reserved demeanor and hunted down those responsible in a berserker-like fury that other clans didn’t think possible.  Nicholas, in his grief, threw himself into his work to prevent any more events like the one that claimed his brother.

On Dagda, Clans Burrock, Fire Mandrill, Goliath Scorpion and Widowmaker each had their issues that lead to underperformance.  They were angered when Nicholas decided to bring additional forces to Dagda to secure the final objective on the planet: Brian Cache Dag-92-906 [otherwise known as the Black Brian].

Initial assaults on the Castle Brian were made by the Jade Falcons.  These included airstrikes and orbital bombardment to destroy major weapons bunkers and anti-aerospace defenses.  The Wolverines and Wolves were tasked with securing the approaches to the fort and to crack open the gates.  The Jade Falcons were promised the actual assault into the fortress.

Operation Ferret began early on 2 April with a simultaneous assault on the three main gates by the Wolves [the northern and eastern gates] and the Wolverine Strikers [western gate].  The Jade Falcons stood by to exploit the first breach.

Planet: Dagda        Gravity: 1.1 G

Walking/Cruise mp are normal

Weather: Clear

Scenario: “Have fun storming the castle!”

Map:  Western side of Brian Cache Dag-92-906

North [   ][   ][   ] South
         [   ][   ][   ]

Attacker: 1st Wolverine Strikers Trinary

Wolverines may use “overrun combat” skill.  All mechs are repaired and ammo refreshed.  Edge points are refreshed.  Any characters with TDS have +1 penalties to all gunnery/piloting rolls.

Objective:  Breach the gate and secure the entrance to the fortress.

Defender: Brotherhood of Donegal

Objective: Defend the castle gate.

Special Rules: Gun Emplacements

The Black Brian is a Brian Cache built with serious Star League era fortifications.  Some of these have already been destroyed by airstrikes and orbital bombardment.  There are several emplacements that are at least partially functional which include:

Command and Control Bunker
Anti-Aerospace Bunker
Fortified Brian Wall and Main Gate

There are also 3 standard Castle Brian Weapon Emplacements in the surrounding area.

Per TacOps, page 120-121, there are no ‘hit locations’ per se on a building/fortification.  A building/fortification has a critical damage threshold similar to fighters that is 10% of its construction factor [CF] at the beginning of each turn.  Any threshold hit then gets a critical roll on the Advanced Building Critical Hits Table on page 121.  Attacks may be made against specific levels of the fortification per the aimed shot against immobile target rules from TW, pg 110.  A successful aimed shot that thresholds will gain a +2 modifier on the Adv Bldg Crit Hit Table.

Note:  The CnC, AA, Wall, and Gate utilize capital scale construction.

Minis:

May I please borrow the following minis for this battle?

Ivan Kumar:  "Star Captain Gurdel,  is there any recon of what is left of the defenses after the bombardment?  Also, do we know the layout of where the bunkers are and the type of terrain?"

Connor Callahan and Jack Charikov request 15 high explosive bombs for each fighter.

The Charikov brothers offer to recalibrate everyones weapons since we are going to a different planet with different gravity effects.
