The Toronto BattleTech crew has hereby issued a challenge to Cincy BattleTech. There is a trophy tat has been fought over for a few years now between Chicago and Toronto, and they feel that it's our turn to get into the fight.
The challenge would take place on Wednesday, July 29th. Set up for the game would occur before the Catalyst Demo Team meeting, and the games would begin IMMEDIATELY following the conclusion of the meeting.
The format is thus:
-x5 players per side
-Each player chooses 4, canon, Tournament-legal, ground units (basically Mechs and Vees), totaling no more than 8,000 BV2.
-Players are randomly paired off against one another - Cincy vs Toronto.
-Maps are randomly generated after the pairings are made. IIRC, it's a 2x2 map setup for each game (it might be 1x2).
-The side that wins 3 of the 5 games receives the trophy.
Do we have interested parties? I'm personally unsure about going to GenCon (in terms of buying a badge and participating in actual games), but I'd be willing to go up there on Wednesday, play, crash on a hotel floor, and come back home Thursday afternoon. And David Leaver challenged me, specifically.
If we have a sufficient number of confirmed players, I'll let David know and he'll send us the full rules documentation and so forth.
