so, whats stopping you from salvaging both Locusts, making one working locust and stripping the remainder for parts?  Either way getting parts for the JVN is a good idea.

Mostly because 20-tonners are almost completely a waste of time when you don't have a House logistics pipeline feeding you new Mechs when you need them.  Which, when it comes to bugs, is "often".

**Edit: By the way, our Techs/'Mech are fully able to repair vehicles. Please see either SO p168 or BMR (rev) p82.

Incorrect.  This is an AtB differential, because under MW3 rules (and therefore AtB rules) the repair skills required for Mechs and vehicles are different.  To whit:

AtB requires these be different people, and therefore they're required to be different people IRL as well, irrespective of what SO/BMR say.

Timberwolfd, I'm going to take you up on your offer.  Please figure out exactly what the hell it is AtB is doing for repair/refit rules and write it down on paper so we can see it.  That's what we're going to use.  When AtB has a hole, I trust your discretion in figuring out a replacement.

Understood.

Just to be clear, is the GM looking for a consensus or a quorum? My assumption was quorum, but if consensus is needed I'll concede to the popular opinion.

I feel that this mission really didn't have any units are group really needs. If we take salvage from this mission I think it should be the CB option, but not the full amount because the next mission will hopefully have more things we actually want or need.

I guess I just look at the cost of mechs we would want to salvage and see 4-5 million cbills which means we probably will have a hard time salvaging a medium or larger mech if we take much this time.

Ultimately, I don't have particularly strong feelings on it this early in the campaign. But it does show how commander stats really impact the unit and how important salvage terms are.

My 2 cents are lets hold off on major salvage until the next mission.

OK, it's a fairly clear group concensus then to wait until the next mission.  Done.

Since this turned largely into the clusterfuck I was expecting, I'm going to make it official.  The duties of the Unit CO will be expanded to be the person distributing salvage.  Additionally, salvage will be added up and distributed ON THE DAY OF THE GAME, so you can take the record sheet of your salvaged unit home with you.  Since the CB value is printed on the sheets (I didn't realize that was true on vehicle sheets until this mission), that should be relatively quick and painless.

I thought it was a fairly civilized discussion, and the various points were clearly expressed on both sides. There are no hard feelings as far as I'm concerned, although if you've been receiving PM's that state differently, that's a shame. As far as I'm concerned, this is exactly the way it should work. Everyone expresses their opinion, and then we go with the majority. No one should be butt-hurt about the process.  ;)

If, on the other hand, some feel like we should just all nod our heads and agree with the first person to make a post... well then, I'm likely to disappoint.   (^_^)b

Regardless, I'm fine with the updated salvage distribution plan.

I feel that was a civil discussion but hard because we are all available at different times on forum and have to wait for others to post.  The distribution of salvage at game a is good plan and will make the discussion easier and faster.

Mostly this.  It's just difficult to communicate this way, and moving away from it when possible will make everybody's life easier.  The entire conversation here could have been wrapped up in ~10 minutes face-to-face.

People were civil.
