Toro - Taurian Guard
« on: May 10, 2011, 01:28:14 PM »

Here's a Toro for the Taurian Guard OpFor, as long as Rob will agree that these weren't actually "extinct", so much as just "rare".   ;D

Please let me know your thoughts, trying to get better with each one.

Any comments about the photos are helpful too.  I setup the best I could considering my limited number of lamps in the house, and using an iPhone camera.  I think I'll switch over to my wife's camera from now on, as the more I work with photos the more noticeable color casting I'm seeing.  I've done some adjustments using Gimp to try to normalize the light, keep it bright enough to see details, etc.

Painting is looking good.
For lighting, you might want to go to Wal-Mart and get some clip on lamps. You can get some daylight lamps. From what I have read you should be looking for bulbs that have a Kelvin rating on them. Between 5000K and 6000k are recommended. This gives you an overall light similar to natural daylight. With the clip on lamps, you can position them wherever you want the light to shine on the subject. Hope this helps.

Thanks.

Something as simple as this: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Gooseneck-Clip-On-Lamp-Glossy-Artic-White/13285330 ?

What are you using?  I know your photo setup has got to be pretty excellent for submitting Camospec photos.

I use these. http://www.homedepot.com/Electrical-Electrical-Tools-Accessories-Work-Lights/h_d1/N-5yc1vZbm8p/R-100354511/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053
I have a light box, that I made out of a cardboard box. Cut out top and both sides, put tissue paper or velum paper over the openings. This will filter your light.

This is a great tutorial, along with several others on camospecs.
