Mine went in last night also... so, so disappointed in my pics. Went to Walmart yesterday and bought 2 clamp lights, camera tripod, 2 6500 Kelvin lightbulbs, tissue paper (the kind used for gifts)... determined to finally take some good pics. Turned out the bulbs were still very yellowish, instead of full spectrum, although I bought the exact bulbs shown in this tutorial:
http://www.camospecs.com/Article.asp?FictionID=50. The ones I bought were advertised as Daylight bulbs, with cool natural light, but still came out very yellow.
I also spent the time to make a small photo box, cutting panels out of a box, replacing with tissue paper, setting up all lights, etc.
All my pics still looked like crap, absolute crap. I'm sure my cheapo hand-me-down camera is at least partially to blame, and my own incompetence for the rest. I hope to buy a new camera before our trip to Florida in the fall, but we'll see how it goes.
Ended up using the pics I took with my iPhone. They're crap. I'm extremely happy with the way my mechs look on my desk, just really thrilled with how they came out... sadly the pics you see will not reflect this at all.
Looking forward to seeing everyone's stuff in the competition though! Cincy sure was well-represented!
