Bret, you're welcome to NPC if you like, but I'd be fine with a force you'd bring to either game. There are plenty fantastic designs both SLDF era and more recently that don't use a PPC at all. Mech identification comes in time and is still an area I need work on as well. Hopefully we'll see you soon though.
