Unit colors
« on: September 26, 2013, 09:24:52 PM »

Last I heard, Camospecs canonized Clan Wolverine colors as Blue w/yellow & white.  My thoughts are they showed little imagination and stole the Red Dawn/Univ of Michigan schemes [my apologies, Phil].  I loved Jal Phoenix' take on CW as seen here:

What are everyone's thoughts?

I'm flexible on the color scheme.  Given the characteristics of the actual animal I think a darker body with highlights makes sense.  White and gold come in ranges of colors.  There's the more burnished gold end rather than the bright yellow from the Camospecs for example.  The goldish body with blue arms I'm more eh about.

For what it's worth, you can't see the images referenced in the thread without a Battletech forum account.

One thing I was curious about is whether there's an official full color logo for the Wolverine Clan.  I've seen a nice one that's black, gray/silver and red.  My impression is that the color schemes for the mechs uses or meshes well with the official logo so that might help as well.

No official color scheme and never will be. That is all I can say about that. ;)

Phil, given they've published Operation Klondike as something people should play, they need an official full color logo and color scheme for all of the anhiliated / absorbed clans.  Whether any of those color schemes should appear it play in later ages is a different question entirely.

There are lots of units that have no color scheme throughout the range of the game. Some will never have a scheme. As Camospecs we can have a say on some items and on others we can make suggestions. Those are then approved or disapproved by the TPTB.

Star League green is also an acceptable scheme.  Gee, where have we seen that before?  ;D

Thought I would ask. Also Steve do you by chance have another griffin? If the campaign does go well I will A second one. Does anyone have the unseen marauder as well they would sell?

Ok, the logo on the Battletech Wiki is different (http://www.sarna.net/wiki/File:ClanWolverine.jpg) which is different than I've seen other places as well.  There's a poll posted on the Battletech boards asking for people to select their Clan.  The image they use is: http://i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z335/HikageMaru/Battletech/ClanWolverine-Whirlwind2.gif

My preference would be to pull on the colors from whatever logo we use.   Likely that would mean black and either silver or a light metalic brown? with red or white highlights.

Thoughts?

Following Jal's pic, we could go with Bronze for the torso and black for the arms and legs. On the left arm and leg one red and one white stripe would circle each.
The arms or legs could vary or there could be bands on each.

Is there a final decision on the color scheme?

I vote for black and gold/bronze.  So does my son.  We are building our mech mini's now.  Our first ever.  We are having lots of fun doing building them.

That's a very popular scheme and I'm sad it can't be canonized as the official Wolverine scheme.

"It's a full basecoat of black, with Citadel Desert Yellow layered over the torso.  Then I roughly highlight the edges with Citadel Bleached Bone, and hit it with a wash of 50/50 black and dark brown.  After I highlight the black and add the damage effects, I brush the whole mini with Citadel Vermin Brown, focusing on the spots I want to be dirtiest.  Surprisingly simple, but very time consuming if your Desert Yellow is thin.  Expect thousands of layers to coat that black!" Jal Phoenix.

This is straight from Jal, so if you want to paint your mini's in this scheme; here is how to do it.
