Hi folks,

I was just wondering if anyone has tried it, or MW Tactics, and if so, what do you think?

I tried MW Tactics a couple times. I need to give it another shot, but it was just a little clunky for my taste. I guess I just expected it to be a little more true to BT since it was a turn-based game. And I really wish they'd port it to Android... if I could sit on the couch and play MWT versus another live human on my Kindle, that would be very appealing. But in it's current format, it just doesn't seem good enough to demand my attention if I'm already sitting at my computer. Once I'm there, if I want Battletech, I can log into MegaMekNet for the real thing. If I want a more visually appealing or engaging game, there are hundreds of choices. Ymmv.

I will say that once you get past the "this isn't Battletech!" shock, you realize the mechanic of simultaneous phases has a tactical appeal all to itself. And it works VERY well for two players trying to play a turn-based game. Turn-based games often get boring with human vs human because you end up just sitting there for who knows how long waiting for the other guy to make his move. MWT solves this in two ways, first by having simultaneous movement/firing, and second by providing players with a way to limit how much time is taken during each phase. If I want to play Travis, and he's got a totally different schedule than me, we can setup 24 hour turns (this doesn't mean every turn would take 24 hours, if we both happen to be sitting at our respective computers at the same time, a few turns could get knocked out very quickly), and just take our time. But if Phil says he wants to play an entire game on Thursday night, we can set it for 5 minute turns and keep everything moving along at a rapid clip. Pretty nice.

MWO is something I need to really give a try.
