Unit Color Scheme Discussion
« on: February 22, 2017, 04:27:37 PM »

I'd like to nominate a color scheme for the unit.  Specifically, I'd like to use the one we used at the Cincy v Toronto at GenCon.  The primary inspiration is the Columbus Blue Jackets 3rd Sweater.

Dark Blue, with cream/bone accent colors.  The number of stripes (if any) can be left up to the person painting them, as far as I'm concerned. The advantage here is that this scheme paints up very fast, its very simple, and looks pretty damn good.

Here's a very simple example of an Annie I did in this scheme for the Toronto game (ignore the stuff in the background; I'm just scratchbuilding a Rifts SAMAS power armor):

Bone also works (Reaper Polished Bone is what I used for that mini; it's just been washed heavily).

Or you can mix it.  IIRC, mixing 8 parts white with 1 part very light grey with 1 part medium brown will get you very close to a bone color.

A: Dibs on 72 and 30

B: The goalie is probably Curtis Sanford based on the black Vaughns - Only other CBJ netminders who use Vaughn since the thirds came out were Mason (and he prefers predominately ill fitting white base) and Korpisalo, who also prefers a white base.

Vallejo Model Color Dark blue painted over a black primer coat.  Highlighted with a 50/50 of Dark Blue and Vallejo Model Color Andrea Blue.  Cream is Reaper Polished Bone with a Devlin Mud wash.

Honestly, any sort of medium-range blue (erring towards slightly darker) will work for a base.  Perfect color-matching isn't necessary.

If you wanted to copy the Blue Jacket sweaters perfectly, use Model Color Ritterlich Blue, highlighted with Dark Blue.  Ritterlich is insanely dark, though.

I'll likely go with the First Aragon Borderers scheme, which should be close enough that the average Joe won't even see a difference.  ;D

Yeah, that is pretty close.  Main difference is that they just use a white accent whereever they think it looks good, while the CBJ scheme would explicitly color the shoulders and in a stripe on the arms and legs.  Still, close enough (if you MUST have a canon scheme).

actually was going to suggest that blue because I have it XD it is dark as you said but from the pic sent it does look very similar so I went with it and have started
