Longterm plans for your lance
« on: March 26, 2017, 06:59:40 PM »

Alright everyone, let's talk about what you want for short and long term changes/customizations so we can plan for allocating salvage and customization time.  The more public we are about our desires the better I feel we can work together to have everyone accomplish their goals.

Short term:
Increase my minimum speeds to 5/8 so I am an actual scout lance.

Long term:
Recustomize my main mech with TSM and endo (3065 is earliest I can accomplish this)

I am looking to be a med/heavy cavalry configuration. Heavy enough to hurt things, fast/jumpy enough to get there in time to help.

Mechs of interest:
(Fire) Javelin --> DHS upgrade
Jenner (JR7-F)
Phoenix Hawk (PXH-1, -1D -2)
Shadow Hawk (SHD-2H)
Girffin (GRF-1S)

If I can get my lance minimum speed to 5, I'll arrive on turn 3 as reinforcement.

I want to upgrade to double HS on all mechs and either get an xl engine for enforcer to increase spead and replace AC/10 to LB 10X or replace with a mech that is at least 5,8. I just need to watch the bv cap.  I can upgrade HS on all my mechs and replace AC/10 to LB 10X on Enforcer and stay under cap.  It will take a while to get the HS in stock and then to install.

We will need to hire some elite techs and have at least a month to do the work. Replacing 12 heat sinks with 12 DHS takes about 27 days. A regular tech in a dropship will need to deal with a TN near 12.  To get the TN to a reasonable level, you need an elite tech and a factory to bring the TN down to a 6.

Plan on a 5/8/5 or 5/8 lance for mixed reactionary force for fire support. All mechs will have DHS and near max armor. Will be mixing a tad bit with some weapons and ranges for overlap. Most likely will make both enforcers a laser boat with something like 5/8/5 with 5 med and a large(decent for city fighting and some others). Griffin will end up losing the lrm for another ppc or possibly 5 med to help the enforcers. Would like to have the warhammer end up with 3 ppc as direct fire support but it lends to better support as is now for the rest of its lance so is up in air.

thought about leaving an enforcer as is and swapping the ac10 for an lbx but its an awful lot of tonnage for the ac or lbx for the little the ac actually does compared to the lbx crit chances

Don't think of the lbx as an inefficient solution, think of it more as an intermediate solution that is much easier to refit (no month+ to refit DHS...).

Since I'm deliberately retiring the PC after the 2nd contract, there are no long-term plans for Fairchild Lance at this time (except for "exist, and continue both existing and increasing skills")

Why deliberately retire?

Why deliberately retire?

So someone else will be the unit CO.  GMing and being the CO are two different things.  Right now I'm doing both, and I don't especially want to, but I'm the person in the best position to do both jobs while everyone gets their feet under them and learns the system.

Once my PC steps down, I plan on creating a new PC and to keep playing, but removing one of the roles will significantly reduce the decision-making burden.  Plus, this way there's no appearance of a conflict of interest.  When the GM and CO are the same person, announcements from the Unit CO "feel" like they're coming from the GM, and that's not OK as far as I'm concerned.  Sylvie will retire after the 2nd contract and a new CO will take her place.  If someone is interested in the role, they should probably be prioritizing XP purchases to make them a good CO.

That's what I figured.  Depending on the workload requirements, I may be able to slot into the CO spot. I think my PC has the best stat block for it anyway. You could easily role play your character's drunken hedonism into the unit voting you out of the CO slot, you don't even need to re-roll your character.

Sylvie, put down the Sauce!
No, your Marauder is not going to move out of your way.
Did kicking it make you feel better?
Doc, she broke her foot again.
No, it was the Marauder this time.
At least she still has her clot... Damn it!
No, means no.
HEEELP!
