Post mission planning
« on: July 21, 2018, 10:36:17 PM »

Key questions
1. Do people need time to rest and refit at a factory?
Atreus and Wallis are nearby. Atreus has an IndustrialMech, which, if it qualifies for refits, is closer. Otherwise, Wallis is only ~3 jumps away.

2. When the next set of missions are posted, they will require us to travel to the mission no later than May 15th. If we like any of them, we won't have time to refit. So once they are posted, we will have decisions to make and the answers will affect 1.

Statements that may influence choices
1. I intend to sell the DropShuttle and the Highlander. Everyone has backup mechs now and should be able to support themselves for the foreseeable future (or at least a mission or two).
2. I will disburse a small payment to everyone, but I intend to keep building up the unit's coffers to buy a DropShip, so think ~300K C-Bills, but don't spend it yet.

One other bit of record keeping will be that everyone will have their birthday and annual XP roll in May.

I'm debating going more towards a facetanking skew, because - lets face it.  I can't hit shit, but I can take bullets for everyone else.  Case in point, today.

Thoughts?

Getting a mech ready at this point means I won't have the cash to try and do a refit.  In terms of readiness Midnight will still be fully ready as of May 2nd.  It'll be longer for the salvage, but that's to be expected.

After we see what missions are available and whether we want to take one of them or spend a month on refits, let me know what you want to do and I'll see about shaking some extra funds loose (within reason).

Logan is still finalizing his lance and may want to custom it a little. We will try to finish up his lance and submit it to Rob today, if not with in a couple days.

I'll be putting several mechs into storage due to repair issues.  Once we know where we're going I'll be able to cold store several mechs and donate the rest to the unit for their use.

The only way to transfer mechs by the rules is to sell them at full price. Each lance is an independent contractor to the unit.

Correct.  I was referring to my mech cubicles.  That's what I get to writing at the gym.

I am going to be dropping the enforcer for sure - need to strip then install new components pior to sale

Treb will be put into a mid range skirmisher role - (would have case single lrm15 2 ton ammo and 4 ml)
a successful roll on TN 6+ (requires factory) using my elite tech would make it 9 days (as long as i get 6.75 days on planet on a passed roll the rest will be good if fails i would need 13.5 days)

the cataphract will be undergoing changes- adding additional DHS,  adding another ppc and spl for infantry, jjs, upping armor, removing ac10 and ammo, removing cargo hold, moving the searchlight in its place - done 5/13

the ostsol - will be modded a bit so i can turn it into a fist firing brawler - by far most amount of time needed with what is planned and most unlikely to do takes 80 days on a pass just to install everything

all- 4 of these will need my mech bay space to be worked on in transit if we are dusting off prior to the repairs  etc

I'm going to reconfigure Skaraborg as the units facetanking group, as lets face it - I can't hit for crap.  May as well soak bullets for someone else!

I just need time in the drop ship maintenance bay to finish repairs to the PHawk 1b and Archer.  My parts will be catching up to us on 4/5 and 4/10.

I looked at the jump point distances on Sarna and it looks like it will be Wallis or nothing. Atreus is 16 days from the jump point. Wallis is 2.45 days. Wallis also has a recharge station (probably because it is a weak red dwarf). Depending on how long it takes us to go from Surface to Jump point from Thirty Weight, we could be on Wallis in ~25 days. Assume a week to the jump point and immediate jump, then a week to charge, jump, and another week to charge and jump to reach Wallis plus 3 days to landfall. That would give us about a week on Wallis before the contract market refreshes and we then would have until the 15th of June to accept the contract. So unless a May contract is a must grab, we can probably refit on Wallis for 2-3 weeks and then pick up a June contract, or risk waiting on a July contract. Hopefully the personnel and unit markets are better off of Thirty Weight as well.
