I am thinking WATERFALL if we can renegotiate salvage and transport.

PUMA SHIELD: Meh
RINGFIRE: Most of the same concerns as before on Cadre duty
WATERFALL: Lots of renegotiation
FIRMIR: Tukayyid, lol.
SAFECRACKER: Defending the St. Ives Treasury. Sounds interesting. High quality opponents, but short.

I think we can take Safecracker. Thoughts?

Rob, do we need to commit to the contract before renegotiating?

Still trying to figure out the contract system, but from my perspective it's not a good deal on transport and our hands will be tied with House command.  Our opponents are as well equipped as the pirates and elite which doesn't bode well, especially with the reduced salvage.  The duration is nice, but is it worth the risks?  I was thinking this was another "wait until August..."

Is the best way to really understand the contracts to read Mercenaries: Revised?

We would definitely be renegotiating, the question is whether we need to commit first. If we do, then SAFECRACKER isn't the contract for us. The upside of A rated opponents is better quality salvage. Even if we don't get all of it like we did on the last contract. That mission was a high outlier reward wise.

WATERFALL is another possible with renegotiation.

Our unit is basically Veteran/A for reference.

Sort of.

With the time limitation of forum communication, I'm not going to (and can't, really) sit here and do maximum renegotiations on every contract while ya'll cherry-pick for the best one.  I'd prefer not to have to write a hard and fast "you must" rule on this.  Thus, I'd far prefer it if you'd do a soft commitment to a contract, negotiate it, and if the negotiations turn out blatantly bad ("equivalent to" or "worse than" when the contract negotiation started), we can move to a different contract.  Does that make sense, and is that amenable?

Absolutely.
Sounds like something to do over the phone once we've narrowed down some possibilities.

I was thinking this was another "wait until August..."

For reference, the "average" contract is House Command, ~45% Transport Reimbursement, ~25% salvage, and either 0% Straight Support/30% BLC, or 100% Straight Support and 10% BLC.

Your Dragoons rating has a weighted and randomized effect, and the type of mission also has an effect.  Salvage and BLC are higher on Planetary Assault contacts, for example, while Transport and Straight Support are generally higher on "Defensive"-oriented contracts (Garrison, Cadre, Security, etc).  Seeing values higher than 60% in more than a single category is fairly rare; if you're holding out for an Independent Command + 100% Transport + >75% Salvage + >75% BLC mission, you're likely going to be waiting a *long* time.

Can we take a crack at renegotiating WATERFALL?
Goal is to increase salvage (trying for 50+% salvage) on up to two rolls and use 1 roll to try to reduce the command to liaison. If both go well on the first roll, try to increase transportation %.

1) Drop Salvage to 15%
2) Up Salvage to 40%

What do you want to do with your 3rd roll?

PUMA SHIELD has at least one major issue. It is long when we know the Clans are incoming. I'd rather get more missions and rewards in in that time.

RINGFIRE offers a change of pace. I would like to take a cadre mission just for the change of pace and to see what they are like. High transportation payout with the opportunity to reroll salvage higher. Just dont eject...

So WATERFALL is now 40% salvage. While I think the weight advantage the defenders will enjoy could be problematic, we should have an equipment edge and, with our SPAs, probably a real damage output advantage. Better pay with higher risk. Other wild card: water world...

FIRMIR = PUMA SHIELD v2.0, too long...

SAFECRACKER, defendthe St. Ives treasury, what could possibly...

Thoughts?
