Unit Command Structure
« on: December 16, 2018, 06:41:00 PM »

Organizationally, we are becoming a large unit with many of our battles being company level actions. To improve our organization I am looking to gauge interest in company commanders and selecting an official XO, 3rd in Command, and 4th in Command. These commanders would be more likely to be in local command during games. This is also part of the eventual transition Away from Dunedain as CO. (Even if things change and I stay in the area, I want to transition leadership eventually for both selfish and group health reasons.)

With 11 lances, I am looking at 4 companies under the assumption that Ryan will eventually join as the 12th lance making 4 even companies.

I would like for everyone to opt in, opt out, or state their ambivalence regarding assignment as a commanding officer. You retain command of your lance regardless.

1st Battalion
Alpha Company - CO - (Dunedain + 2 Lances)

Bravo Company - 3IC - (3 Lances)

2nd Battalion
Charlie Company - XO - (2 or 3 Lances)

Delta Company - 4IC - (2 or 3 Lances)

Command Candidates:

I do not have a preference but I do think that the company composition is still going to be thrown through a loop. My reasons for saying it will be impacted. The mission type frequency and opfor strength plus any solo missions or damage

This is definitely true. From an RP perspective though, at our size, we should be assigning lances by company to the various roles instead of doing it ad hoc each time.

agreed i figured what would happen is we get a normal company that would engage but 1st company lance b and c could be called up or swapped in on a moments notice due to battle readiness. I mean its not unheard of to only send part of a command to one place or swap out based on mission objectives/situations

For ex I mean were not gonna march an assault lance into box cannon...

So, it's in deadly peril every time a pretty(-ish) girl walks by and needs a real mech to save it every episode.

You have enough ammo to carry specialist rounds. And in the event illumination is needed on a neighboring continent, you can provide it for a few seconds.
