You had your hire as a SGT in the update to the TO&E you did. I just want to be sure that is your intent. It is more of an issue for Phoenix. Though given that Phoenix right now is two LTs, Natalie almost certainly should be hired as a SGT.

For Phoenix, yes, absolutely. For Midnight given the current size of staff I may update ranks to include a Master Sergeant or two or possibly a LTSG for support staff. I can probably cut back on the staff size after this contract. We’ll see what happens with retirement.

Do keep in mind that while it is very nice and may be crucial to quick repairs to have the most high ranking techs, it is important for critical repairs to have multiple chances. Having the green and regular techs around gives you more rolls to make the repair. So there are reasons to not have an all elite tech group.

I do not intend to have all elites. Now with my elite being one better, he can do things much easier. I am 8 XP from one of my vets becoming elite, and one regular becoming veteran.

Also I am trying to optimize my vindicator some, but unsure as to what needs to be done. Was considering selling it and buying the hatchetman to have 4 mechs with AAA. Would rather be cheap about it for now.

Out of curiosity are 4+ Elites considered different than 5+ Elites in terms of a new roll? The skill difference is as big as most of the other jumps, so I could see it going either way.

Right now Midnight has 2 Elite/2Vet/2 Reg /1 Green.  That feels like 1 too many, though the way I’ve been looking at it are field techs vs ones back at base. Active units pull on field resources, salvage reconstruction pulls on different people. The 4 point swing in modifier is huge though.  It feels reasonable to break things out that way. Staff is larger and has a monthly cost regardless of whether there’s anything to do or not.

@Deadly: just sold my custom Vindy. I was hatwith the build but needed cash and space for the LAM. It’s still in the custom mech thread at the moment if you want to look.

Makes sense.  The Avenging Angel config is what I started with.  I also have 2 XL engines waiting to be used.  I finally have the 'Mechs to put them in, but we'll see if I still do once we finally make it off world.
