CincyCon 2011
« on: January 05, 2011, 09:52:18 AM »

Recieved this in my email this morning and thought I would share with the group. Emailed it to the Demo boys in hopes that they might want to put on a game or 2, to bring the word out that Battletech is not dead. Also, the group can possibly go to support a local con.

Hello all and Happy New Year from the CincyCon team,
Hope you all had a great holiday and are ready for the 2011 gaming season.

John Leahy and myself are organizing games to be held at CincyCon 2011.  The show is Saturday, March 19th at the same location.

We are looking for Game Masters to run a variety of games.  Miniature games, board games, card games and role-playing games.  If you would like to help us out, please send the following information on the game you would like to run.

Name (title) of event.
Rules system
Number of gamer slots  (4 to 10)
Time period, scale, brief description and approximate duration for the event.
You can respond to this email to register your event or through our web site's comments page.

Please have your event to us by February 15th.

If you have some friends that will be playing in the event, have them pre-register on the CincyCon.org web-page.

Thanks for your support and look forward to another great show in March.

Best Regards,
Ralph Hoegermeyer, John Leahy and the rest of the CincyCon team.

I'm definitely reserving the date and planning to be there.

I normally teach at a Stage Combat workshop in mid-march...but I'm not sure of the dates.  If I'm free, I'll contact these guys and see about putting together something.  Maybe a trial run of the Trial of Bloodright rules for this year, since I'm Team Lead for them.

In any case, remember that (I believe) these guys were the ones last year who we tried to contact in January and never heard back from.

I'll probably attend this.  I'm not sure if I'll run anything yet or not.  I'll need to take stock of available resources first.

Dan, can you elaborate?  Were these major issues, like trying to present you with a bill for your space, or relatively minor issues, like a simple personality conflict?

Have you, Rob, and/or Travis decided whether or not you'll be setting up an "official" event yet?  If you're still trying to decide, I could reserve the table space and then hand it off to one of you for an official event, or I could simply run a casual scenario myself.  I went ahead and pre-registered for a Battletech event, and was informed that no Battletech events were scheduled yet; although I think one has been added to the listing (with no details) in anticipation of either a Demo agent or myself running something.  Let's try to keep some transparency here, just so we don't end up reserving space for more events than we actually need.  :)

I believe the issue was that last year Rob and Dan attempted to run something, and never heard back from the con coordinators.

We're handling the space, don't worry about it.  I know we will have a boot camp, a bigger event of some sort, and possibly something else.

Correct.  They came to us asking us to run things.  We came back to them asking for information.  They got back to us two weeks before the damned con when both of us had already made arrangements for that weekend because two weeks notice is too damned short for a con, EVEN MORE SO WHEN WE HAD ASKED FOR INFORMATION FOR THREE MONTHS

Ok, in that case, I won't schedule anything other than to attend.  Glad to know you guys are working on it.

As for what happened last year, that doesn't exactly sound nefarious, but more likely a degree of disorganization.  Let's hope they've learned from their mistakes!  :)

I of course would like to attend.

Make sure you pre-register on their website.

So, who's looking forward to some DC vs Dragoons action tomorrow on Misery?   :)

Other than the main game being run by some dude from Dayton, and the boot camp being run by Travis, are there any other Battletech-related events taking place?

I will be there. Plan on being there around 10. I will be playing in a Battlefront game @ 1pm. It is put on by an old friend. Probably jump in on some other game.

I shall be there as well, and I shall show those uppity mercs why the correct call for them is "Death to Mercs!"

In other news, my boss told me I take my job too seriously, and I need a hobby where I don't express so much intensity.
