New Earth Factory Madness Thread

OK, so you all arrive on New Earth on September 19, 3052.  Make sure you've updated your finances and paid your people accordingly.

You are on a factory world while not under contract.  As a reminder, as per pg 28 of the HM,WT rules, access to a factory for refits - outside the bounds of a contract - costs $25,000 per week, per Mech.  Go ahead and start making those customization rolls, and make sure to pay the factory for however long it takes.  If you don't need to use factory space for refits, you are considered to have access to a maintenance facility for all repairs/refits as long as you're on New Earth (ie, the unit isn't limited to DropShip space).

As a further reminder, as per pg 49 of the rules ("Out of Contract Status"), starting on Day 1 of the 4th month outside a contract, there is a mandatory TN 10 CHA check for all Lance Leaders (and the Unit CO) to convince your subordinates not to jump ship.  The first roll is due on 1 October, and the 2nd roll is due on 1 November, with a +1 penalty to the TN for the additional month.  Rolls should be made in this thread, please, so it's easier for Hat to track who might be leaving.

Having spoken with Hat, the unit will begin looking for contracts in November, regardless of the status of people's refits.  So don't screw up.

I will generate and post marketplaces for all of September, October, and November simultaneously.  We'll just handle it all as one giant marketplace.  Players will be responsible for understanding WHEN they hired personnel or purchased units, and correctly updating their warehouse finances.

Contracts will likely be generated this weekend.  We should be done with everything related to New Earth by roughly this time next week.

Finally, Taelor's lance will be added to the unit as per 31 October, so it helps you with your contract status for November.  Taelor, as a courtesy, you do not need to pay for salaries or maintenance for November.  You will be responsible for your lance finances as per 1 December.

Steve:  In mid-October, you receive a package.  It's dated about a year and a half ago, and the shipping information shows that it's been all over the central Inner Sphere.  The outside of the case bears a different name than Benton Mudd and a message, "Did you think we'd forget about family?".  Yes, it's the name you think it is.

Inside is a series of technical manuals and 1-use secure holodisks, labeled "property of NAIS".  Using the manuals will enable you to convert 1 Elite Mech Tech into a Veteran Mech Tech.  However, that Veteran Mech Tech will no longer suffer any penalty for working on base ClanTech units.

That's correct, but remembering that a dice result of 2 on anything connected to retirements always fails.  So if you'd rolled snake eyes you'd still be checking for unit members leaving.

Doing this from mobile and a helpful this is different from your standard retirement would've sufficed considering its happened once this entire campaign I think as far as failure.

What does the conversion to vet clan tech do to current xp points earned by the elite tech chosen?  Would they stay the same and then apply to future elite clan tech?  Or reset to some lower level? Thx.  One other question, how will this work with the repair spreadsheet?  While on New Earth, I will attempt to scrounge up some spare parts with contact bonus [within 2 jumps from Outreach].

It sets you to veteran experience level, and you retain the current available XP you have.  If you spent XP to raise the Tech to Elite level, then those spent XP are essentially lost.  However, nothing stops you from accumulating more XP and raising them BACK up to the Elite level, should you desire.

As to how it interacts with the spreadsheet, it just allows you to ignore the +3 circumstance penalty to repairs/customizations for "IS Tech working on Base ClanTech unit", which is listed on the Master Repair Table, on pg 27 of the campaign rules.  Your Dragonfly is a Base ClanTech unit (unlike, say, the Marauder C, which is an IS Base Tech unit that is mixtech with Clan weapons).  If there is further interaction with the spreadsheet, I have no idea, because I don't use the spreadsheet and calc things manually.
