Well time for peoples thoughts

Bastille - my vote is no - this puts us basically right into another year of aging and 2 retirement checks and its the ass end of space away from anything

Angel - vote maybe - that one will be a tough contract elite v elite FWLM will have new toys however but 30% and 20% BLC arent the best in here - no market until win 3 missions in a row - tn +3 and -1 per mission victory until the +3 is removed - however higher solo mission chances - this will also put us close to Capellan space which may net TSM on a second contract nearby for those who want it (YES I DO) - terms could be better however so we can negotiate

Milana  - my vote is no - this puts us basically right into another year of aging and 2 retirement checks and its the ass end of space away from anything for 18+ months

Rondel - vote is no to maybe -  isnt terrible but not my cup of tea - cadre duty for 12 months - terms are nice but the payout not so much considering it would end up netting like just under 600k per lance after unit takes half - not worth it to me

Independence - vote no - just no

Sable dragon - vote MAYBE - terms are not terrible but could be better but more in line with what we want- its relief duty though...  vet FC b rated stuff which is still good salvage and 60% battle loss but same issues as angel as far as market etc - this one is more likely to succeed - FAIR POINT ON HOUSE COMMAND

My thoughts:

SABLE DRAGON - Its close, and BLC of 60% is workable. Yet its relief duty, with the lack of access to unit markets that brings. We are past the era of heavier drac units being Dragons and Chargers, but the support given will be lacking. Pass for me.

INDEPENDENCE - While this is a short extraction, I cannot help but think about playing stupid games and winning stupid prizes.

RONDEL- Cadre duty may involve dozens of green mechwarriors in F quality mechs running against competent forces trying to kill them. Also thee required skill checks may create problems.

MILANA- Seems like basic garrison duty against the Taurians. The A rated should have 2+ level tech for salvage, which means in my mind challenging enough but we can still win. Long time to travel out there though.

ANGEL - Very similar to SABLE DRAGON in my mind with slightly more advantages, but overall still a pass for me.

BASTILLE - I like the possibilities, and this one is a raiding mission rather than garrison duty, which suits the units style more. Our allies are a cadre force though. I like the 60% salvage amount.

My first choice is MILANA, and I have no problems with BASTILLE. I can be convinced on SABLE DRAGON, RONDEL, and ANGEL.

Edit: I like breathing. So dropping MILANA from my choices, BASTILLE would be my choice.

SABLE DRAGON - Does anyone seriously trust the Dracs after they've been under a Death to Mercs order for the last 30something years?  I mean, sure, the BLC is great, and the salvage can be negotiated up, but note that we're under House command and THAT can't be renegotiated.  No, please.

INDEPENDENCE - It's the ass end of nowhere, fighting against a bunch of underequipped farmers.  No.

RONDEL - We can probably pull off the mission, but the terrain is awful.  Look at the blurb for the planet.  Generous amount of things can be renegotiated, though, which is a help.  I'd prefer no, but the degree of renegotiation can make this into a maybe.

MILANA- Garrison duty in the Periphery, but at least it's not horrifically far out.  Quality of opposition is decent, so salvage potential is there.  We can renegotiate certain things, but with the peace that's fallen over the Inner Sphere right now, I don't think employers are going to be so generous with very high BLC or salvage rates for non-emergency contracts.  It's a safe contract, but it's mostly a no, unless we blow the negotiations on other things.

ANGEL - This is a tough mission.  Tough opposition, and relief duty is hard to begin with.  If it weren't for Devil Lance just joining us, I'd say pursue it, but not being able to access the Unit Market at the start of the campaign is going to screw Devil pretty hard.  I'd prefer to take it, but I think we have to pass.

BASTILLE - It's short, but it's ALL the way out in the Periphery, so the time we save in contract duration, we spend in transport time.  Pay isn't terrible, and most everything else can be negotiated.

I think I'd look at starting negotiations on BASTILLE, MILANA, and RONDEL.  Mostly, these contracts are awful, for the sort of unit we are, but everyone is catching their breath right now and I don't think we're going to be seeing a lot of raiding or assault contracts for a good long while, so we're going to have to deal with it.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING OPERATION MILANA

So...Diefenbaker isn't detailed at all on Sarna, which is where I was grabbing the capsule information regarding "what sort of world is it"?  Usually, that means that in AtB it's just a generic "earth-like" planet.  However, noted this afternoon that I hadn't actually edited in "earth-like" into the post above, and so since I had AtB up, I went and looked at that instead of Sarna, and this is what the planet looks like in AtB.

You...may want to take this into consideration when choosing contracts.

SABLE DRAGON - No.  Not at all.  DC House Command after the slogan, "DC.  Been using Mercs for cannon fodder since 2540."?  Pass.

INDEPENDENCE - Lucrative from a Transport perspective, but drops us off in bufu.  OA bufu, not even FS bufu.  Pass.

RONDEL - Herd green ADHD cats currently playing in a sandbox surrounded by snakes with guns and knives, and oh btw, don't ACTUALLY try and sort this one out.  They've got it.  (Integrated command).  Someone commented about play stupid games... lose stupid prizes or something like that.

MILANA- Apparently General Slattery dialed this one in personally for Atayde.  Clearly a wrong number.  Go spam call someone else.

ANGEL - The most promising of the bunch from both a reward and location perspective.  Tough, but have ideas for Devil.  Maybe.

BASTILLE - Uh no.  The planet's Perdition.  Primary continent is Hel.  Tropical water world in FS bufu, but still bufu.  No.

Right now leaning towards ANGEL or sitting a month for another round of contract options, but that means another possible set of retirements at higher TNs.

Thoughts?

We should just roll out the ones that people want to go to, or are contemplating going to, given the better conditions before we decide on skipping. Who knows, the rolls might be lucky.
Instead of waiting for a reply after each roll, just ask Rob to reroll until a condition is met for each roll before moving to another roll.

Dancer thoughts...
Sable Dragon: Agree with Freya, It will take a while to trust Drac government.  Hanse Davion worked with Theodore but area warlords are a different matter altogether....No

Independence: WAY out there.  About only plus is independent command rights...No

Rondel: Not a fan of shepherding kids in a hazy/hot/humid hell hole.  Planet has nothing to offer.  Who would want to attack it?...Maybe

Milana: Don't have a death wish...No

Angel: Tough and I like a challenge but we could be dropping into a buzzsaw of Biblical proportions...Maybe

Bastille: Long trip but doable...Yes

Rob,

ANGEL - Roll Salvage and BLC please.

BASTILLE - Same.

More likely to take ANGEL of the 2, but let's look at them.
