Reroll weather please.  Looking for something that will decrease visibility at least a bit, make life difficult for the infantry and preferably mess with missiles.  So light rain, some sort of wind, etc.  Lets start with up to 3 of the 5 rolls.

3 rerolls in, and you've got Light Rain.  +1 penalty to hit from conventional infantry.

What are the map size options?  Given that we've got to cross from one side to the other, trying to figure out whether it's likely to get longer or shorter with a reroll.

There are none.  Note that the map size is hard locked by AtB.

Ok, got it.  Ok, up to 2 more rolls on weather still looking for wind to cause problems with missiles, the reinforcements transport and ideally visibility.

Sorry, was doing dinner.

4th reroll was clear weather down the board.  5th reroll was this. Now we have a problem.  Because I don't think it's either reasonable to play this game, nor mathematically possible for your forces to even GET to the other side of the board at Walking-only MP (all other Mech movement modes are impossible due to Tornado, see chart on p36), at total of +3 MP to enter each hex due to Fog and Mud, AND where every hex on the board which isn't a Depth 1+ water hex, or a building hex, or a road hex, also includes bogging down rules and requires a PSR thanks to Torrential Downpour.

Torrential Downpour is TacOps p59
Tornado F4+ is TacOps p62
Heavy Fog is TacOps p57
Bog Down rules is TacOps p62
Master Chart for weather/enviro conditions is TacOps p36

I would like to hear a very strong argument why this scenario shouldn't be automatically lost, please, as from a practical standpoint the victory conditions are impossible to achieve in the time allowed for us to play the physical game.

Agreed.  We lose the scenario.  Let us know what the effects are for the auto fail and start working on the next mission generation.

Will do after work.  All the failure means is a 0 to the contract score; it's not a breach that creates an active penalty.

There were no applicable solos, so Mission 5 will be generated soon-ish.

Edited: So looking at the AAR for Mission 4, I'm confused.  Based on points it looks like 2 contract points were awarded (taking us to 6) for successfully completing Mission 3, but then lost for Mission 4 (4/6).  My understanding was salvage was not handled normally and didn't impact the totals either for earned or taken.  No equipment market for May either.

I understand it was a weird mission, I'd just like clarity on how it's counting for:

1. Contract Score
2. # of missions completed (impacts both acquisition rolls and presence of an equipment market)
3. Salvage
4. Total possible remaining missions (we'll be up for #5, but that may be considered contract mission #4)

The comedy of a Karniv getting hurled into the next county alongside a Toyota Hilux and the local version of a cow could be worth a giggle.

Miscommunication all around. You're ascribing intent where there wasn't any.

The Allied Traitor mission counts against the total cap of missions within the contract (max: 6), but it has no effect on Mission Score at all.  So of the possible 6 points the Rangers could have earned thus far (3 missions which give contract score; 1, 2, and 4), they have earned 4 out of 6 points.

The Allied Traitor mission had no effect on contract salvage whatsoever. The PCs who fielded lances on the table could take whatever salvage they desired, pursuant to the whims of the Local CO.  Only they could take any. Your overall salvage score is unaffected.

Finally, due to the intent behind the rule regarding "missions which affect availability", I decided that this mission didn't "count" towards that number. Availability is still at a +1 penalty, because 3 missions which count towards contract score haven't been completed. Mission 3 didn't count, and Mission 4 was a loss.

That should answer everything.
