22 July, 3062
Solo Mission: Fire - Hold the Line (Defender)
Result: Victory - no effect on contract score
After-Action Report: Zeta and a small Local defense force encountered a star of Wolf Mechs at the crack of dawn. Upon encountering the wolf mechs, ranger forces go to intercept with the help of a nightsky and PH LAM, with a griffin providing moral support as a pilot that's greener than grass can. Wolf forces pushforward with their sentinel breaking off to chase the LAM around the map until he is distracted for a brief second by the Griffin attempting to assist, striking a lucky critical against the LRM ammo in the griffins torso and promptly making it a smoking ruin.

The rest of the wolf mechs proceed to push toward ranger forces swapping fire between the two, with the wolf hussar managing to push its way past ranger forces losing both its arms as it does so, The hussar is then promptly stopped with a Large Laser blast from the LAM coring out the mech. Afterwords zetas Warhammer having turned its attention to the Wolf's sentinel, avenges the fallen Griffin by landing a critical upon its Autocannon ammo with is ER PPC's destroying the sentinel.

Ranger and Wolf forces continue to exchange fire as they continuously march forward when day brakes and a reinforcement lance of wolf forces show up with their hovertanks and Hussar bee lining down the west end of the field and the wolf's pouncer begin dueling Zeta's Blackjack, breaking off to chase after the LAM zipping around the north end of the map. the ranger nightsky, cestus, and warhammer begin concentrating fire on the wolfs glass spider and blowing off its left torso and landing a crit on its gyro. The Warhammer then proceeds to destroy the glass spiders right leg rendering the wolfs mech battle incapable and forcing them pilot to abandon.

the wolfs second hussar is successfully able to cross the battlefield and stay in the designated area for the rest of the encounter. after spending the entire encounter dueling the wolfs black knight, Zetas black knight breaks off and crits out the Lancelot's three left torso engine slots.  With four clan mechs defeated and the LAM still Flying around fully operational, Zeta declares Ranger victory

Solo Mission: Fire - Recon Raid (Defender)
Result: Victory - no effect on contract score
After-Action Report:  Ranger actual assigned Fire Lance as lead to local partner force. This would be a small multi purpose operation for partner forces. Training forces would work on weapons training from ranged fire to melee combat. Additional work would include deployment of smoke, mines, and EOD work following live fire training. Secondary purpose being at worst a defensive picket is in place with some extra deterrent. Intending to probe the Ranger staging area lighter elements would push to contact sentry patrols. Ranger forces were starting live fire training when word would come through of incoming opfor.

Ranger forces would deploy both Dires Fire1 and Fire2 mid center rear controlling the high ground. The focal point of the area with clear vantage would prove absolutely invaluable in the coming engagement. Fire2 and Fire3 would deploy mid line with the shoreline forward. This essentially would complete the forming of a reverse wedge engulfing the lake. Allied units would deploy split between the 3 zones. The cobra would deploy in partial cover center, Nightsky would be caught slightly further rear south while melee training against trees. The Wolverine established as cadet lead would deploy north with Fire4 Dragonfly. The original intent would be to begin patrol training.

Opfor units would drop almost solely split as mechs and vehicles. Mechs in the NE, center E, and vehicles would deploy SE, E. Their initial line of advances were only partially expected but slower than anticipated. Utilizing the low ground and tree cover they pushed into break out positions. The mech lanes were slow to advance trying to consolidate for a massed line advance. Seeing positioning of hover elements forced a hard push for Fire3 KU to establish a firing pocket while Fire4 pulled back center and then immediately shifted SE to reinforce. Fire1 and Fire2 would continue to hold the high ground save for a small initial stay of the hill by Fire1 to get firing range. Holding a small cops of smoke covered trees would be about the sum of time off that hill.

Hovers would try charging across the lake and S. They would come near face to face with half of Fire elements. In the opening couple volleys Fire1 through Fire3 would remove half of all hover units deployed. Several would be downed through motives including some over the lake. Another would remove itself skidding into a tree. Only the Zephyr push was successful in pushing past the initial picket line. Fire3 would begin to take considerable damage from multiple sources in the process. The retreat process began immediately becoming cat and mouse while being chased by several mechs.

The training cadre would show true grit and promise in this engagement. The Nightsky positioned itself to help remove all but 1 of the remaining hovers and assist with damaging several mechs. Fire1 personaly would go onto specifically state these cadre elements were instrumental in holding the bases picket defense of the southern flank. The Cobra would spend most of its time mining the northern picket gaps in an attempt to force the enemy into Fire1 and Fire2. It would deter some movement but clan grit would get some of them past the line with no damage. One would hit both of the sole high density minefields and end review would show the leg blown out via actuators and the other blown off the hip joint. The Wolverine would harass and damage units for the remainder of the engagement. It had served as a rolling picket retrograding to hinder opfor. It did so to the very edge of the AO. It would be surrounded lose an arm, fall and get back up. This would continue to be its resolve until it would fall setting off an ammo explosion as a result. It would be the only loss and it was just unlucky. The cadets served with distinction accounting for 4 kills.

Fire3 and the Nightsky would continue to harass and target the southern mechs as they could do so favorably. At one point two different units would have retrieved the mission data. The KU would drop the second Kintaro with an ammo explosion as well as the hoplite in similar fashion. This would solidify Fire3 as a double ace. Fire2 would reach across the AO and remove a pristine Nighthawk assisting. The crab would be the sole unit yet to traverse back through the gauntlet in the S. Its pilot would opt to leave the board as it could not achieve any objectives on its own. He would almost certainly have seen his sole IFF left on radar after the final volley in the distance.

The Wolf mech forces attempted to mostly push using terrain in the north and would break through more than a star of mechs. One Nighthawk would lose its leg to Fire1 but would destroy itself attempting to stand and fight short of the picket line. At one point three units would've been able to retrieve the necessary data in the N. The hussar somehow avoided the mines only to take a streak srm to the head and fall unconscious. The pilot would wake up most likely as a result of the Wolverine explosion less than 30 meters away. The remaining units swarmed the objective point in ana tempt to secure data.

Fire4 would be harassing everything it could chasing hovers in the S and then mechs in the N. It would eventually finish off a pair of mechs including the Hussar. This mech would be the sole blufor mech to see both flanks of combat directly while managing to capture an opfor pilot. Fire1 and Fire2 would mostly focus this northern flank short of a couple volleys down range to the S. Both units would stand and deliver with small movements for LOS and ranging. Fire2 would take three mechs and three hovers. Fire1 would take a hover and two mechs. Between both almost half or more of all forces were destroyed or damaged heavily by them. Fire1 would need to have a talk with the tech who installed the RA pods as they missed almost exclusively. They would finally come into alignment fully to help down a Phoenix hawk. Fire2 would down the Wolf CO making it impossible for the Wolves. This would net Fire2 ace. With this last volley it ensured the last shred of culpable victory was removed. Although the wolves started slow they were highly ambitious taking great risk and were rewarded. Stronger ranged firepower in volume with grit held the day.

Mission 1: Base Attack (Defender) - Paladin, Pilum, Fury, Blitzkrieg
Result: Victory - +2 to contract score
After-Action Report: On a routine training exercise with a squad of Lyran Mech Pilots, we received word of a large clan force approaching our facility from the north, having been found by a clan scout star to the east calling them in on discovering our location. Thankfully, the nature of this exercise being a bit of testing on Lancer's part on Paladin's command capabilities following the bowing out of Ereschuld as Unit XO, there was no question as to who will organize the defense and Paladin CO spared no time organizing Alpha Company + guest of honor Blitzkrieg into a veritable defensive posture in the north to wall out the primary Clan force, while assigning Pilum to handle the scout star in the south-east.

In the west the Sandovits made to break through Fury's defensive line but her Wraith was just fast enough to block off the side street they were looking to take advantage of, forcing the sandovits to scatter and let Fury hold the entire force there until Marigold arrived, turning the numbers in the ranger's favor and they began clearing the field with little issue.

Despite Paladin laying out a fighting retreat plan designed to give a bit of ground and make heavy use of defensive smoke pockets in order to separate the Clan Forces, but an overextension by the Clan forces was too juicy for Blitzkrieg to leave hanging and they came barreling over the hill to deal massive damage to the enemy Vulture Griffin and Hellhound, and forcing the Mad Cat back to regroup with the assault star. While Paladin maintained their defensive positions to dissuade the assault star from advancing recklessly.

Meanwhile on Pilum's front the scout star chose to hide in the buildings rather than face off directly under the watchful eyes of the base turrets while slowly making their way to the west to try and finish off retreating civilian units. This cat and mouse game ended rather spectacularly when, after the loss of one of the Locusts, the remaining four found some form of deathwish and rushed to the southern forward base map to try and destroy our civilian assets. In this breakneck assault the Hunchback IIC got a good grouping into Pilum's Hercules, and the resultant stackpull destroyed our savior repair vehicle beyond repair, and we lost the team of civilians inside. However this allowed for Pilum to fight with renewed vigor and they wiped the scout lance out entirely in the following turns.

Thanks to powerful initiative control, Blitzkrieg and Paladin were able to force the Clan Assault star to hold position hiding behind a building until it was too late, once they finally made the push to take our strong defensive position, Fury and Marigold had clean swept the west side of the battlefield and arrived to clean out the remaining forces in the main force and assault star with barely any resistance. And the loud symphony of explosive resonance come from the hunchback IIC's engine will hopefully work to soothe the passed soul of Pilum's lost pilot. Vengeance has been served.

14 August, 3062
Solo Mission: Pilum - Star League Cache 1 (Attacker)
Result:  Victory - no effect on contract score
After-Action Report: Newly recruited pilot Rubi Sergent and Veteran Mech Tech Rosa Biron were sent out to recover an old Star league Era Dragoon AEM-02. Rubi was assigned to test her mettle and proficiency in combat.  During recovery the two encountered a pair of Clan wolf mechs.  The following fight was a quick and brutal brawl, Sergent and Biron seizing initiative and choosing to close with the opposing archer as quickly as possible. Immediately pressing the Dragoon into combat the two proceeded to exchange a flurry of fire with the archer. The Thunderbolt's AMS minimizing damage taken during the engagement.

After a few moment of exchanging fire, Sergent was able to deliver a kick to the left leg of the Thorn, destroying the leg and downing the mech, which was made combat incapable after a further volley of fire.
The Archer, having taken sever damage to the Dragoon's fire earlier in the fighting, met a similar fate after falling back to gain a range advantage. Losing it's left leg before being finished off by Sergent once downed. The pilot ejected and was subsequently captured.

The Thunderbolt left with the only damage sustained being armor damage, as well as the dragoon taking light armor damage during the fighting.  The Thorn was taken as Salvage after the battle, and the clan piloting the archer was taken prisoner. One "Kenzie" Sergent is to be congratulated for a very successful mission, and Mech Tech Biron will be getting a 4000 C-Bill combat bonus for rising above expectations and serving as a mechwarrior for the battle.

22 August, 3062
Solo Mission: Paladin - Breakthrough (Defender)
Result:  Victory - no effect on contract score
After-Action Report: Paladin was dispatched by Ranger actual to stop a clan scouting force from staging a reinforcement of the clan force amassing nearby attacking our defense force. London REN’s famous farsightedness was able to support Paladin in locating the force in short order and, grabbing a couple of recruits in mechs fast enough to keep pace, rushed out and spread deployment to try and intercept the clan scouting binary.  In the initial rush to blow past our zone defense, one of the enemy Ice Ferrets thought they would try to skirt the edge of the AO to try and avoid the gauss slugs from London, but this left them weak to the classic push into the ravine just to the north of the map and Anita Sin was able to remove them and their battle armor group from the battlefield in one sturdy strong arm.

Once the slower enemy forces made their way to the center of the field they began to challenge Burhan Garcia piloting my Marauder. This was a mistake and by the end of the match there were 2 unconscious pilots in the viper and the Shadow hawk, both of which would have had trouble standing up due to hip crit on one end, and a missing leg on the other. Betty Johnson simply acted to wall out the enemy Nova Ice Ferret and Kit Fox from pushing through the south, but didn’t manage to drop any of them on her own.

Noted diamond in the rough Olympia Thirgood was especially impressive, immobilizing 2 of the enemy zephyrs in their attempts to blow past our defenses using the long straight clearings and their superior speed as well as committing herself to chasing the enemy Baboon to the end of the continent as far as I’m concerned. Malena and Stacey however clearly need more time in the simulator, as opposed to the bar.  London ren used the clear sightlines of the locale to land a beautiful headshot on the enemy Nova, putting a hole straight through the pilots seat, before turning around and destroying the leg of the flailing phantom and keeping it grounded forever.

In the end, no casualties and 12 destroyed or otherwise disabled Clan units was enough to scatter the enemy with gusto.

Mission 2:  Stand Up (Defender) - Norbotten, Marigold, Jazz, Foil
Result:  Victory - +2 to contract score
After-Action Report: Things just keep getting weirder in the Lyran Alliance.  Ranger Lances Jazz, Foil, Norbotten and Marigold have been assigned to defend a small coastal town in sector 7.  Clan Wolf forces were known to be in the area with unknown intentions.  Unfortunately, Wolf forces arrived from the south about the same time that the Rangers did from the north.  Wolf Reinforcements were also spotted by combat air patrol approaching from the west.  A hasty call was made to Rangers forward base and Fury Lance answered the call, arriving from the northwest just after the Wolf reinforcements.

The Rangers lined up west to east with Jazz, Lyran training cadre, Marigold, Norbotten and Foil and proceeded south to the town.  Clan Wolf initially started sliding west to circle the town, but changed direction back to the east due to a well placed minefield dropped by Rangers CAP at the southwestern corner of the town.  Two other minefields were dropped on either side of the nearby river which successfully delayed crossing by the Wolf reinforcements and allowed Fury to engage on the west river bank.  The training cadre headed east to join Foil while Jazz joined Marigold and Norbotten entering the town and met up with a Lyran heavy lance stationed in town.

Heavy combat quickly escalated in town as Wolf forces pushed in.  Norbotten took the lead with Marigold on west flank.  Foil engaged a star in the port.  Jazz trailed Marigold.  As combat heated up, CAP alerted Jazz that another Wolf star had broken through and was rapidly moving north through town.  Jazz quickly pulled back and headed east along the north edge of town joined by half of the Lyran garrison and cut off the Wolf star from hitting the Rangers rear area.

At this time stranger things started.  Lyran garrison commander, Lt MacWhirter, signaled Jazz that “it’s happening earlier than we thought, brace yourselves”.  Jazz relayed the message to the rest of the Rangers but confusion reigned.  CAP reported that the water at the beaches was roiling for unknown reasons.  Shortly, the shocking truth became clear.  Organic creatures resembling giant crabs [as large as mechs or main battle tanks] rose out of the ocean water and crawled inland, attacking anything that moved.

Garbled radio traffic hinted that Wolf forces to the south had also been attacked and had lost some artillery assets but Ranger CAP could not confirm.  They were too busy supporting the Rangers in town.  Hundreds of creatures surfaced and moved inland.  Rangers and Wolves were soon too busy defending themselves from the crabs to attack each other.  Additional radio transmissions from Lyran Command cancelled our mission orders against the Wolves and instructed Rangers to stand by.  Jazz was about to lose it.  WTF does command mean?  “Stand by”.  Sheesh.  In the meantime, the crabs were seriously damaging mechs on both sides with their strong claws and spitting globs of acid that rivaled the most damaging of mech scale weaponry.  The crab’s defenses are also formidable.  Most mech scale weapons bounced off.  Only Large Pulse Lasers, Gauss Rifles, ERPPC’s and large bore autocannons seemed to be able to kill the creatures.

Additional orders were finally received.  The Rangers were ordered to break contact and regroup to the West-Northwest after destroying/disabling the Wolf command units in the area.  Rangers witnessed the creatures eating downed Wolf mech pilots.  Very gruesome.  Fury CO was barely rescued from the crabs with life threatening injuries after her mech’s engine exploded.

The Rangers won the day with far less losses that they should have had.  Several special commendations are in order. 1] The Lyran garrison stood their ground against heavier clan forces and coordinated well with the Rangers.  2] The Lyran training cadre likewise kept their heads and also scored several kills of the giant crabs.  3] Real time battle data of the giant creatures compiled by Foil lance is priceless and was a major factor in the Rangers retreating in good order.

The crustacean invasion continues….

01 September, 3062
Solo Mission: Lancer - Recon Raid (Defender)
Result: Victory - no effect on contract score
After-Action Report: Mayer took his lance, along with 3 recruits up oceanside for some training when Wolf units came from land side. Lancer took a defensive stance, positioning a Longbow near the hill in the center to utilize C3 band.  The heavies pushed the SE, causing massive damage to Mad Cat early in the fight before they reached the bridge, while the bulk of the lights pushed for the NE edge. Conners took the North, getting a lucky strick to the head of a Hussar early on. Trying to take a stance in the center after having a weak line and trying to keep the recruits alive, more of these crabs began to come out and start surrounding wolf units. Enemy Hellion pushed through before their numbers got too severe from the island. Jenner jumped away after what appeared to be scanning the island for information, leaving a vulture and linebacker to the crabs.

During this time, the Wolverine hovered close to COL Mayer, taking shots off, which led to an early takedown of a lone baboon. Recruit in Lynx tried to stay out of enemy fire until near the end, helping in the takedown of a Hoplite that struggled to catch up to rest of the unit. The brave recruit in the Hunchback began to follow the faster elements in the North, with little luck, until helping to take down a Falcon that got too close.

In the NE, the crabs began to rush towards Wolf units that were unlucky to be the closest to the water. Lancer began to slowly rout enemy units while their major hitters were dealing with the crabs, taking shots at the slow elements in the rear. Hoplite and Hunchback IIC struggled to get to the center, being overran by LRM fire from the Longbow and Mad Cat. A few Skevors slowly pushed the center, dealing massive damage at enemy mechs while they scrambled to kill as many as possible. Trying to scan the NE, a Mongoose got surrounded, what appeared to sacrifice himself to allow a Grendel to get the data needed.

Linebacker was able to break through the Skevors that surrounded them on the island, only to be taken out by COL Mayer in the end. Enemies captured whatever they were going for, but I took out enough units for them to fall back in the end.  Not wanting to deal with a new threat, Lancer, along with the trainees, decided to take their leave. Leaving behind the Vulture, that was still surrounded by the crabs. All recruits did a fine job, with Dirk having a close call, almost losing a torso and 2 of his weapons. The Hellion and Grendel got what they were looking for. Lancer had little issue with the Skevors to where not a single shot were fired against them.

04 September, 3062
Solo Mission: Ehreschuld - Hide and SEek (Attacker)
Result: Victory - no effect on contract score
After-Action Report:Captain Wolfram-Kelswa encountered a medium Wolf trinary on the outskirts of one of the cities and Clan Wolf forces moved to engage.  He deployed the Flashman and Cauldron Born to the south near the mines, sent the Lyran Griffin to the north to deal with an Icestorm that looked like it would attempt a flanking maneuver and sent his Battlemaster and the Banshee up the center.  The Wolverine and Strider were initially held in reserve.  Clan Wolf pushed to engage spreading them out using Hussars, a PHawk and Vixen to flank south, while the other PHawk and Icestorm swung north.  The remainder pushed a shallow V formation forward with the Linebacker and Cauldron Born at the rear point.  Not expecting the speed the Captain could bring to bear, he was able to quickly charge the Grand Wyrm dropping it to the ground and leaving it useless there with some additional fire with both hips destroyed and the gyro damaged.  MSGT Lee at the same time dropped one of the two Hassars while the Lyran pilot Eva Emmerih took out the weapons on the Icestorm from her Griffin, forcing its withdrawl from the field.  While early efforts seemed to favor the Rangers, the sheer firepower available to Clan Wolf began to take its toll.  The Banshee took significant damage just after the Rangers dropped the first mechs when it and the Battlemaster took down the opposing Rifleman, destroying its gyro.  The Battlemaster also took heavy fire as did Lee's Cauldron Born.  While the Rangers dropped the Rifleman, the remaining Hussar pushed the Strider out of the OZ.  The Flashman had positioned to provide cover to take down the Hussar, but had misjudged the angle and with the Hussar skirting the edge of the wall remained hidden from its guns.  While the Strider and Wolverine damaged the Hussar, it was not enough to displace it, and the Strider was forced from the mission.  Captain Wolfram-Kelswa quickly calmed the situation and focused the efforts of the Lyrans to stay in the fight.  Things continued to balance precariously on the knife's edge with the Rangers taking more damage and only legging the errant Hussar on its attempted retreat.  The Captain was certain if he could drop at least one more of the Clan's forces, he could convince them to withdraw.  In a blistering exchange that came close to cooking off the Banshee's HGR with it's torso laid bare and damaged internally, the Rangers and allied forces were able to finish the Hussar and the Vixen, with the Banshee headcapping it with a PPC.  It was enough to convince Clan Wolf to quit the field.

While the Flashman was virtually untouched, the same could not be said for the other Ranger units who all sported internal damage.  Both the Banshee and Cauldron Born's left arms were destroyed, with the Banshee taking engine damage as well.  Ehreschuld claimed both downed Hussars as salvage.

07 September, 3062
Solo Mission: Fire - Recon Raid (Attacker)
Result: Draw - no effect on contract score
After-Action Report: Fire Lance after being assigned a small cadre for training again was tasked with a recon by fire mission. Smaller elements of Wolf forces pinned elsewhere dealing with what were to be dubbed crabs. Ranger forces also joined in with that fight to some success and appeared poised for another round of city defense. Recon by fire would be first to see if an alternate route in would be feasible over an air drop.

Clan forces patrolling the lake unfortunately for the entirety of the engagement just simply had the initiative regardless of outcome. Pinpoint fire and eventual reinforcement would establish the end of the cadre attachment and they just didn't know it yet. Most of the cadre deployed north to attempt a break past the lightly defended area. They succeeded but took some damage in the process. The Phoenix hawk even in cover and high mobility would be hit and eventually take a hip crit once wolf units reinforced. It would stand and deliver and still not kill anything. The dart managing to secure Intel would fall even staying mobile on the way back going critical. The dervish would also even staying mobile in cover would take a bin hit. In all the cadre unit is listed as MIA but likely with confirmed 1 KIA. There was nothing that could be done when multiple high difficulty shots hit every single volley.

Fire Lance deployed faster units center in an attempt for closing distance for engagement and diversion. It worked partially but not before the Matador and Executioner turned into the recruits path. They would push past and manage to near break engagement but were harassed the entire way. They would push into and engage no less than 5 clan mechs attempting to draw fire and take opportunity as it came. Several clan mechs would be downed through the engagement including a recoverable Executioner. Reinforcements sealed any hope of exfil as the final volley into the dart cascaded into the Phoenix hawk taking its hip. Of all the damage done it would go solely into the same leg and the one time a critical mattered catch the hip.

Fire 1 and 2 would strongpoint hills toward the center. At first shots would land but shortly after it became very clear targeting had been sabotaged. Clanners would not lower to this type of thing. This only left the Rangers, allies of which could be local forces, or house forces. Who knows and we likely never will. Shorter ranged fire of low degree would miss on nearly 70% of all fire. (I shit you not I missed with 50%+ if not 75% on 4-6) It became a fight of armor rotation and positioning with all stops pulled to ensure survival. They would occupy all but half of the reinforcement group and would still also be hit on high degree difficulty shots volley after volley. It would continue with exact placement forcing a near ceding of the field. They would move no further than 120 meters from the strong point doing the job or armor soaking but could simply not put shots where and when they needed them.

With the cadre gone and expected quota of clan mechs downed the battle was a near stalemate. Operational timeline surpassed and it was no longer feasible to stay. Both sides opted for withdrawal to avoid the tables turning in either side. A net draw while pyhrric, in what could be considered a skirmish victory, it came at a cost of the lives of the cadre. Inei would pull full immediate work orders for the lance repairs. They would be bumped immediately upon the hand over due to the upcoming operation thankfully. The camera films handed to Ranger actual, the BDA given and he headed off to bed. His bed would hopefully ease the troubles to come. The night filled with what ifs, dreams filled with demons of battle, fallen faceless allies. Sleep would not come easy this night. He knew this before hitting the pillow, the dreams that came made sure he knew.

07 September, 3062
Solo Mission: Fury - Laager Ambush (defender)
Result: Victory - no effect on contract score
After-Action Report: Fury Lance was attacked in laager by a detached second-line Clan Star. Lyran SGT Antionette Abercrombie pushed forward into the bend of the southern river to buy Fury Lance time to perform a support force evacuation and for Fury Lance members to override the training protocols on their energy weapons.  Lyran SGT Steele in her Hermes pushed out to the right flank, attracting the attention of the attacking Grasshopper and Fenris; this left SGT Abercrombie facing the incoming Summoner and Shadow Hawk IIC.  These cadre elements served to buy sufficient time for Fury Lance to come fully on-line.

A close-range melee ensued in the Fury Lance laager area, with Techs and medical staff running in all directions trying to dodge Mech-scale weaponry and not get trodden upon by either side.  To the right flank, a well-timed shove off of a tall hill by LT Taylor in her Wraith caused significant damage to the enemy Grasshopper.  The Shadow Hawk IIC never made it into the cantonment, being focused down from 3 sides.  The Lyran Commando pilot showed significant courage - if not accuracy - by closing and engaging the Hankyu at point-blank range, before itself being deleted by a concentrated volley from the enemy Summoner.  The swirling melee inflicted significant  damage to both the front and rear of SGT Montgomery's Thunderbolt.  Fury Mechs took major damage from putting themselves in the path of enemy attacks which would have otherwise targeted Fury Lance technical and medical staff.  In the end, the assault was driven off, with only the enemy Grasshopper surviving the battle.  For the cost of the cadre's Commando, every attacking unit save the Grasshopper was destroyed, and the pilots of the Shadow Hawk IIC and Summoner were both taken prisoner. No doubt valuable intelligence will result, not the least, "how did you find one of our cantonments to attack it in the first place?"

Mission 3:  Base Assault (Attacker) - Lancer, Fire, Ereschuld, Zeta, Blitzkrieg
Result:  Victory - +2 to contract score
After-Action Report:     In a city our employer asked to check on that was near the sea, we found a strange dropship, owned by the Wolves, near the sea. Seismic readings indicated that more Skeks were to arrive soon, per our employer. We were asked to immediately get in to ensure the crabs do not get a hold of the heat source emanating from the dropship. We dropped in, along with our recruits and 2 lances from the Lyrans, in the middle of a lightning storm, with Zetas Devastator almost landed upon a unit from Blitzkrieg from the fall. With the looming threat of the crabs, the forward Rangers closest to dropship suspected that it would save its fire and manpower to keep itself afloat, when it began fire on a recruit in the Hollander. Upon landing, Lancer, Fire, Ehreschuld, and a portion of Zeta pushed towards the ship, with Blitzkrieg pushing North into the city to rout enemy forces that were dealing with the crabs coming in.

Shortly after the fighting began, giant monsters followed suit after the initial skeks. 2 Kanji that were 3 stories came out the water, running and jumping through buildings. A third, even bigger monster followed suit, started to make a B-line towards the dropship. Wolf forces in the NE were just sitting about while the skeks pushed in slowly on their position. An assault lance that was near the dropship held the line against Lancer until the remaining forces made the line. Lancer and Fire tried to open a line to get to the turrets, gave enough headway for Ehreschuld to break in and get the mininum required for our required objective. During this time, Wolf forces began to fall back to center of the city to block Blitzkrieg from firing on their rears. Lyran forces began to push center to take pot shots at stragglers and to back up Rangers in exposed positions. Lightning strikes were hitting everything indiscriminately on the field.

The dropship begain to focus on easy Rangers in the open, along with taking shots at the monsters coming closer to ship. The Kanji that appeared to be a walking dragon, pushed through and trampled enemy units, causing massive damage. A lone Gargoyle tried to hold it at bay when this monster charged him. Fires Dragonfly caused a lethal blow to said Gargoyle, causing a chain reaction that destroyed multiple buildings, along with killing another 2 wolf units nearby in the explosion. Lancer lance was able to break down the assault lance near the West, taking out their Atlas, along with causing an eject from the Behemoth.  Cadres, using the mechs to their strengths, helped damage other forces near the dropship among the primary force, helping ensure our victory in the end. The pilot in the legged Hollander played dead and was ignored the remainder of the fight after the dropship knocked a leg off and almost coring him.

In a desperate attempt to control the field after dropship left, Rangers started to push North into the City to rout out the remaining Wolf forces that were beaten up and shaken from the new menace from the deep. Ehreschulds mediums were taken out by enemy dropship while attention was on the turrets. Enemy reinforcements were helping the remainder of their forces away from the water, went and started to harass units close to the dropship. Lancers Koshi pilot was having disoriented by the heat from the dropship and stayed still before it lifted off, allowing the enemy Champion to knock out every actuator in one leg. Battered and bruised from the onslaught from 2 enemies, the remaining forces disengaged and surrendered to our contractor, ending all conflict in the city. After this massive defeat, I do not think the Wolves want to stay on planet anymore than most of the Rangers who dealt with these sea creatures do.

Reminder to newer players that I *do* perform some editing on missions, but try to mostly use what AtB gives me.  Dealing with stuff out of our control is part of the fun.  However, when I don't use my judicious editing powers, this is the sort of stupidity that results from the AtB RNG system:
