although true we could send message offworld to other sldf units however we have no idea if we have any dropships in orbit. That also presents a problem if the wrong people intercept that comms as well we could walk right into a trap. Also if there is not a dropship and we do have to send it wont we have to defend the spaceport? that means if we are a big enough thorn in their side we could in fact get nuked as well i mean they nuked a regiment cant remember how much that is but it is possible. Also even if we get there and fast we have to neutralize comms if possible we may need extra firepower to hold that starport. Is there anyway we can get some foreward recon on the area maybe a lance of light mechs? Also if we do in fact need the firepower is there a sldf armory around or maybe a smaller outpost with a few mechwarriors and mechs? Was there anything friendly along the way that we can hope might still be?

You can only assume that Amaris has total system control at this time.  In addition, you have no way of knowing if there is any forms of FTL available to you other than HPG.  And that compound is currently a tad guarded for obvious reasons.  Also, the first thing Amaris would have done was secure any armories, or blown them up.

And the Royal Black Watch unit that was nuked was a company...

GREAT SO WE are so SOL LOL we didnt have hidden armories? A company sizes element gets nuked and we are TWO COMPANY sized elements lol If he gets wind I wouldnt doubt he will nuke us thing is if and when he gets wind of where we are. Also he may not nuke us if we are at the starport it may be just as important to him as it is to us. Anyone else agree with that or is that me being optimistic. Also its not like they know how big of a element we are but if we let those prisoners live or we dont take them with us until we are leaving this rock they could report our strength and amaris nuked TBW company so not sure we want any info getting back although the aerospace fighters could have easily reported a company of mechs in the last battle. However what were the circumstances of the TBW company what were they doing and what terrain were they in? Were they in a fight or on a training mission like us? I dont think they want to nuke the base we just took.

Well as long as we're nitpicking, it was nine mechs that got nuked, not a company ;).

That's because 9 mechs was all that was left of the entire regiment and they refused to die!

Well, it is (was) the Black Watch, people who could make all our PCs look like wet under the ears fresh out of boot camp soldiers.  However, the best way to avoid the nukes is to keep moving and to not be found.  Nukes are a big stick, but you still need to know where your target is.

lol ok so if we pose that much of a thorn and take the starport does that mean a general would consider using a nuke on it just to take us out? I know if we stay moving he cant nuke us but back to if we hit a base or supply depot again? If they manage to get word out we may be in trouble i suggest we avoid as many as possible to keep them guessing as far as where we are and what we plan on doing and take a northern route through edmonton or around it then head south toward winipeg this all depends on the what we get out of the prisoners though and ill have to read up on the tbw battle sounds like it was one hell of a fight

You just have to know the approximate location of your target. They have a pretty large pattern. If we only have 2 space ports, then Amaris's people will figure that out also. Now that they know we are here and that we will have to get of this rock, then it shouldn't be to hard to know where we are going. If there are any other spaceports around, then that would give us more options.
Also, I believe I read that one of the first things they took over, were the HPG stations. All communications stopped suddenly. No one in the IS knows what is going on at this time.

The average RBW pilot was probably a 1/1.  The lousiest one was a 2/2.   Keep that in mind.

If you assume there are two planetary spaceports, we can sure as hell expect them to be well guarded..and if anything gets up that isn't from the spaceports or on the Approved List, Mr McKenna in orbit will have something to say about that.

Lets see what happens over the next few days...maybe an opportunity will present itself.

No.  Mr. McKenna is Armis by now, and wants nothing more than to introduce our dropship to one of its NAC40s, or its NL55s.  Quick exchange, exposure to vacuum, all things considered ends badly for us.

ahhh not good so even if we do get offworld we still have to get past the warships and i dont think we will last the 10 15 yrs it takes the general to take back terra unless we dig a real deep deep hole and hide

New to&E
...
This leaves us with three dispossesed people, Lt. Knightly, MSRG Fedotenko, SRG Yip.
We should repair the phoenix hawk's gyro, as that is the only gyro or engine hit we have.
Anything else?

How do we look as far as armor, IS, and any other criticals?  I want to make sure we leave ourselves with enough WP to refuel those ASF's once or twice (or whatever you think might be needed).

Quote
...Winnipeg...

The reason we chose this route is to minimize breakdowns on the road, and for faster travel.  Is it possible that satellites could spot us?   Yes.  Does Amaris already have full control of all intelligence assets on the planet?  Unlikely.  Even if he did, would he somehow also have the necessary analyst resources to study all imagery, and determine that the sub-battalion-sized unit moving through the Canadian plains were enemy forces and not just his own out on patrol?  Again, trying to establish any sort of real intel would take resources that he probably doesn't have, and time that we're not going to give him.  The real threat we should be concerned about is at the spaceport, unless just sheer dumb luck (GM) is against us.  If that's the case, no amount of micro-managing is likely to make a difference.  And remember, Amaris and the RWR military aren't searching for just us, they're searching for ALL SLDF forces.  We're just another scattered unit.

Quote
...OMG...NUKES!!!!....

Eh, not worrying about this.  Either the GM wants to nuke us or he doesn't.  Wait, nevermind, obviously he wants to, but he either will or he won't.  Whether anyone else got nuked or not, we don't know.  We do know that the GM isn't bound by canon, the Devastator being on-planet a few years early proves that.  It's entirely possible that Rob will break from canon in other ways just so he can continue to surprise us.  We're not designing an exit strategy around possible nukes, unless the GM specifically mentions it.

Quote
Also, Bryan, not any real time pressure but what intel do you want out of our captives?

I'm not the experienced role-player in the group, so you guys who are can decide on that.  I just wanted to establish the ground rules for interrogation, so that we don't fall on the wrong side of an eventual war crimes trial.  Interrogation is one thing, but torture is more likely to change us forever, or even fracture the group.

Quote
...Also when we get to the spaceport what happens if there is not a dropship? we just gonna steal the nearest shuttles and hope they dont shoot us down? In the event there is not a dropship are we gonna make contact with one of our dropships or units off planet?...

Lot's of worrying here about things outside our control.   ;)  All those things are possible, which just leaves us with more options when the time comes.  We've got no promises that we'll ever make it off-planet, we might be stuck here fighting guerrilla-style for years.  Finding a dropship to steal is only plan A.

Quote
Also its not like they know how big of a element we are but if we let those prisoners live or we dont take them with us until we are leaving this rock they could report our strength and amaris nuked TBW company so not sure we want any info getting back although the aerospace fighters could have easily reported a company of mechs in the last battle.

Answered your own question.  Taking the prisoners with us presents several logistical problems, not the least of which is the potential dagger in the back.  We'll leave them, and we'll leave them in good health, unless interrogation discovers anything that prompts us to do otherwise.

Quote

Love stories like that.  I wish we knew the exact 9 mechs, because that would be a fun unit to put together and paint up.

We don't actually know much of what's going on either.  We were supposed to participate in a joint training exercise, when real lead started flying.  Other than that, I don't think we've got confirmation of much of anything beyond the fact that it wasn't an isolated incident and SLDF forces are under siege planet-wide.  GM:  It'd be nice, at some point, to get something out of civilian news sources.

I'm going to assume that there are dozens, if not hundreds, of planetary spaceports.  We're only interested in these two, because they're the closest to our position.  Hopefully, we've got PC's that can help us with that 'approved' list.   :)  Forgery, Admin, Comms, Cryptology, Security are all skills that might come into play, and of course there are few problems that can't be solved with generous application of the Demolitions skill.

While I have no intention of digging a hole and hiding, being more of a go-out-in-a-blaze-of-glory type of guy, it does bring up an interesting point.  Which is that stealing a dropship and getting off-planet doesn't help us a whole lot unless we can also catch a ride on a jumpship.  This might require us to pose as a RWR unit shipping off-planet, or perhaps some other solution will present itself.
