Mine went in last night also... so, so disappointed in my pics. Went to Walmart yesterday and bought 2 clamp lights, camera tripod, 2 6500 Kelvin lightbulbs, tissue paper (the kind used for gifts)... determined to finally take some good pics.  Turned out the bulbs were still very yellowish, instead of full spectrum, although I bought the exact bulbs shown in this tutorial: http://www.camospecs.com/Article.asp?FictionID=50.  The ones I bought were advertised as Daylight bulbs, with cool natural light, but still came out very yellow.

I also spent the time to make a small photo box, cutting panels out of a box, replacing with tissue paper, setting up all lights, etc.

All my pics still looked like crap, absolute crap. I'm sure my cheapo hand-me-down camera is at least partially to blame, and my own incompetence for the rest.  I hope to buy a new camera before our trip to Florida in the fall, but we'll see how it goes.

Ended up using the pics I took with my iPhone. They're crap. I'm extremely happy with the way my mechs look on my desk, just really thrilled with how they came out... sadly the pics you see will not reflect this at all.   :(

Looking forward to seeing everyone's stuff in the competition though! Cincy sure was well-represented!

You have to let the bulbs run a while before they show correctly.  Fresh out of the box, even the best "white light" or "natural light" bulbs will show yellow for 10-20 hours or so before they radiate correctly.

Sorry man.

10-20 hours?  Really? I had no idea.  :o

Hmmm, I was planning on taking them back today and getting the GE Reveal bulbs that Sounguru's tutorial suggests instead, but now I wonder if I should just let these burn in awhile.

10 to 20 HOURS! Geez...

Glad to hear I wasn't the only one visiting the camera store yesterday.  Got a tripod for my fancy new camera...which is less fancy than hoped.  Its great for hiking, or making panoramas of entire naval vessels when I finally get some vacation time, but doesn't have any sort of manual modes, and macro mode left a little to be desired.  But all in all turned out ok.  I was too busy praying to the acrylic drying gods trying to knock down the shine on the matte coat i put on it a few hours before hand to be too harsh on my lighting and camera setup.

Next time definitely going to look into a proper photo box, or at least a milk jug or something for light diffusing.

So, at least 7 mechs from our group in Cincinnati (that I know of), out of a total of 34 if I counted correctly, better than 20% came from us. Nice job!!

Excellent work all around, awesome minis.   ;)
