Nope. Got it base-coated and thinking of stripping it, I'm just not happy with the scheme. I hope to have it done before the next game.

There's an Iron Painter going on?  How long do I have to turn stuff in?  I've missed the last several painting contests...

I'm working on it.  I primed it yesterday and it showed a couple of spots that I have to fix.  I am also still researching the colors that I will need to use.  I plan to do a lot this weekend.  I also am working on CWiE and Star Wars squardons.

Yup, dropped it into the Simple Green a few minutes ago. Started applying a wash, spotted a strand of fuzz/lint, tried to remove and paint started coming off.

GRRRRRRR!  >:(

Guess I'll work on my submission for the Open category.

Still working on it.  So far so good.  I've got the main base colors and the wash on it.  Tomorrow starts the dry-brush highlighting.  I will be bringing it to the game on Sat for fine tuning advice (if you guys wouldn't mind).  I'm still worried about the eyes.  However it turns out, I think it will be a worthy addition to its lance.

So.  Very.  Angry.
I was going to bring my submission to get any last minute suggestions and get photos done of it since i know the light at the store is decent.  I then proceeded to drop the mini (Osprey), break the top gun off, and scrape a little bit of paint of one of the wing edges.  Nothing fatal, but annoying.  Got home, proceeded to use my fathers CA to try to fix the gun.  I am used to gel superglue.  This was not gel, but was in a very similar bottle.  Proceeded to put a large drip of CA directly over and around the missile racks.  Not Happy.

So well, needed to vent.  Will still bring it tomorow and will be happy to hear any suggestions for how to redo it after stripping it.  Also, if anyone has any SLDF decals that they could part with 1 or 2 of, I'd be interested in aquiring them.

You wouldn't like me when I'm angry. ;)

(I'm bringing my entry for preview and advice as well--I'm not quite finished but real close)

I think I have a couple Star League decals that I got from Phil.

Wow, those were some great paint jobs by all that I saw at Saturday's game! I'm wondering if I can compete. I'm worried that Rob might be correct, that I'm using the ugliest possible olive drab there is (it's Vallejo's USA Olive Drab). It is pretty dark and well, drab, but I think it's got a very true military utilitarian look as well. I put quite a bit more work into it though, and it looks good on my desk. If I can transfer that to a photo it should be respectable.

Travis, so sorry about that Osprey. I wish I knew some trick to getting that glue off without ruining the paint. It really was/is a fantastic paintjob.

I did finish and seal my mini, and also got most of the base completed, although I haven't decided whether or not to actually attach the mini to the base, or just have it sitting on it for display.

I've also completed re-assembly, priming, and base coat on my other mini. This was the first time I've used Gesso for priming, and while I guess I might use spray primer again sometime, I think Gesso will be what I generally use from now on. Excellent coverage (of course, since I applied by brush), seems very strong, and also seems to really make a difference in how the base coat looks and how smooth it is.

Olive drab is pretty damn ugly and boring, no matter who it is made by. It is in the highlighting, that brings out the details. Wish I could have seen the minis. Have to wait until the contest and they are posted for voting. Well represented from the "Nati".

Both entries are in.  So very annoyed; I had to take the photos on my "not as good" camera, which doesn't have a manual F-stop or focus feature.  My "good" camera is relatively old (2001-ish), and I couldn't find anywhere that would send me a new memory card for it which would get here before mid-August.

Blah.  Oh well.
