Saturday Scenario Thread
« on: March 19, 2013, 07:50:01 PM »

OK, this post will be filled in fits & starts as I move on and off the computer to either throw up or take care of a wife or kid who are doing likewise.  I hate this city sometimes.

The scenario is fairly simple.  The SDLF is sending in a suicide force ahead of the main assault wave to destroy as many defending Armis units - including the feared M-5 Caspar drones - before the actual invading troops reach orbit.  This 40-ship fleet, termed Task Force Leonidas, jumped to a stable pirate point outside of Mars orbit, and engaged the defending forces.

Historically, the Task Force suffered 100% losses - 40 ships - in a 42-hour engagement.  Their sacrifice meant that there were 106 fewer Caspar drones and an unknown fewer number of Rim Worlds-flagged capital ships available to contest the landings.  In a very real sense, their sacrifice allowed the landings to occur at all.

In the interests of sanity and people's printer cartridges, I have pared down the various fleets to be a more representative cross-section of the battle, rather than trying to slog through a 175-ship engagement in a single day.

TASK FORCE LEONIDAS
Command Squadron
SLS Sovietskii Soyuz (Sovietskii Soyuz-class)
SLS Karenina (Sovietskii Soyuz-class)
SLS Longhorn (Texas-class)

Battle Squadron
SLS Vengeance  (Stefan Amaris-class BB) - PROXY: Tharkad
SLS Hammer (Black Lion-class)
SLS Canis Palmis Caedebat (McKenna-class)

Pursuit Squadron
SLS Shark (Mako-class)
SLS Orca (Mako-class)
SLS Excalibur (Luxor-class)
SLS Monte Carlo (Luxor-class)

Escort Squadron
SLS Europa (Congress-class)
SLS Intrepid (Essex-class)
SLS Hood (Essex-class)

RIM WORLDS DEFENDING FORCES
Squadron 1.35b
M-5 Caspar Capital Drone (x3) - PROXIES: Lola, Lola, Lola

Squadron 1.45a
M-5 Caspar Capital Drone (x4) - PROXIES: x2 Bonaventure, x2 Vigilant

Squadron 1.12a
M-5 Caspar Capital Drone (x4) - PROXIES: x2 Pinto, x2 Invader JumpShips (Rob's Pintos have been Eli'd and are not fit for service)

Squadron 1.71c
M-5 Caspar Capital Drone (x3) - PROXIES: x3 Naga

Squadron 1.19b
M0-5 Caspar Drone (x3) - PROXIES: x3 Vincent Mk. 39

RWRN Squadron Legitimate Succession
Stefan Amaris  (Stefan Amaris-class BB) - PROXY: Tharkad
Incontestable Claim (Farragut-class)
Divine Right (Black Lion-class)
It's MY f*cking throne, all right?! (Monsoon-class)

Who needs to bring what:

Steve: Lola, x2 Vincent Mk39, x1 Naga
Brian: x2 Lola, x2 Bonaventure, x2 Vigilant, x2 Pinto, x2 Naga, x2 Mako, Essex, x1 Black Lion, x1 Congress
Rob: x2 Pinto, Tharkad, Farragut, Black Lion, Essex, x2 Sovietskii Soyuz-class, x1 Texas, x1 Vincent Mk 39, x1 McKenna, x1 Monsoon, x2 Luxor
Phil: Tharkad

Anybody:
-RECORD SHEETS.  Everything listed above in the squadrons.
-Stefan Amaris-class sheet is in Liberation of Terra II
-Caspar M-5 Drone sheet is in LoT vI, and I need 20 total sheets
-Somebody needs to track down and print out a few copies of the rules for nuclear-tipped capital missiles.
-Don't worry about fighter and Dropship-scale stuff.  Looking at the info about the battle, this was really just a WarShip fight...
-Don't worry about Drone Decision Trees.  I ain't touching that stuff for a 1-off.

I think this is everything.  Hoping so.  Sleeping now.

Hell, I knew I forgot something.

-Bring a copy of the Areotech Quick-start rules that I posted a few threads ago

-BRING AREOTECH MAPS; I'd like at least a 3x4 map setup.

Okay, I DON'T have stats for the...
Stefan Amaris
Mako
Farragut
M-5 Caspar

I can get everything else.  Which versions do you want, Rob?  TR2750?  TR3057?  Battlespace?  AT2?

Most recent. That should be the AT2r versions of all of them.

Mako (2) and Farragut (1) are printed.

...I had to dig up my CD copy of HMA to do it, but they're printed.

I'll be using HMA too.  I don't have AT2r.  AT2 only has ftrs & dropships.  I'll find the best HMA has for each.

I'll get the Stefan Amaris and Caspar M-5's.

Just a heads-up, I've got another commitment Saturday morning, but I should still be able to make it to the game by 11:30. I'm very sorry, but there's just no way around it.

With that in mind, I can either give my stuff to someone else nearby on Friday night, or I'll bring it with me at 11:30.

Sorry about not being able to make the game today.  It was a last minute decision influenced by not getting enough sleep to feel up to making the drive down and being slightly behind with my schoolwork.  Let me know how the scenario turned out.
