3rd edition box set
« on: December 13, 2013, 12:03:02 AM »

Does anyone have any idea of the prices for the 3rd edition plastic unseens all 14 of them? I managed to find a box set for 20 bucks and picked it up. I know the warhammer and marauder are a bit harder to find. However if anyone could give me a estimate as to what they are worth.

this also still had the mapsheets rulebook and the original mech readouts plus also had another readout 3025 I believe

Mech list is as follows

marauder
warhammer
griffin
wolverine
battlemaster
wasp
stinger
locust
shadow hawk
archer
crusader
phoenix hawk
thunderbolt
riflemen although it is missing an arm

Due to the quality of the plastic unseens, they're not *particularly* valuable.  The Marauder in particular is horribly badly cast, and the plastic - as a rule - is so soft it's very hard to get rid of the mold lines.

At the height of the "get some Unseen" movement in 2008 or so, complete 14-Mech plastic sprues from the 3e boxed set were going for $75-125.  These days, the going rate for PLASTIC Unseen - not metal - seems to be about $5 per mini.  That would put an absolute upper limit for the value of your find at around $75.  If you were looking to sell them, a price somewhere between $40 and $55 would be "priced to sell" (ie, guarantee you'd offload them quickly).  With the Rifleman missing an arm, if *I* were to list them on eBay, I'd put a starting bid at $35, and a "Buy it Now" at $85, and expect to get about $45-55 for the lot.

All in all thats not to bad though for 20 bucks at some random game store. I did want to keep a few of the mechs however marauder warhammer and griffin. The first two being some of my favorite mechs and the third being a favorite plus needed for campaign. I will have to see what can be done may end up keeping them if that makes a significant dent in the price change. The box I will say is in bad shape as well. However the more I think about it the mechs in general are mostly mechs I do not have myself. Hard decisions in the future I see.

$20 for those mechs, that is a good deal; for me. A sharp exacto knife will clean up most of the mold lines. For some of the other problems, large craters; (looking at you Mr. T-bolt) can be repaired with some green stuff and a file. I have a set painted for the Kell Hounds. Nice buy.
