IC] 28 July, 2821: Everybody Wants to Rule the World
« on: April 18, 2014, 06:11:19 PM »

The clashes between the clans and the Sand Confederacy ended fairly quickly.  They were never really much of a threat and the offer of water and food won them over.  The next opponents would prove to be much more of a challenge.  Antonio Hidalgo was a Lieutenant in the SLDF who fought against Amaris.  But after the Exodus, he was demobilized due to his mental condition.  He soon turned to religion and created quite a following of believers.  Alexander Kerensky was peripherally aware of his activities but the rebellion demanded his attention.  During the Pentagon Civil War, Hidalgo and his followers ran wild with re-education and purges of any who would not adhere to their version of "faith."

Warned by spies that the clans had arrived on planet and were attacking all areas of Circe, the religious fanatics of “the Glorious Imperial Dominion of the God-King Hidalgo” prepared the defenses of the fortress-cities under their control.

First to be assaulted by forces of Clan Wolverine is the outpost of Osgiliath; a quiet village at the western edge of the Hidalgo Empire.

There is a wall around the village that is 1 level high.  It is not large enough to stand on but it takes one extra movement point to walk/run over it.  All buildings are medium cf [40 points each hex].  The GM does NOT WANT TO TRACK BUILDING DAMAGE !!!  Skidding rules are NOT in effect.

Attacker:  1st Wolverine Strikers Binary  [All previous damage is repaired and Edge is refreshed]

Mission:  Conquer [may use “overrun combat” skill]

They know that you’re coming:  The Strikers will set up within 5 hexes of the south edge of the map before the defender sets up.

Defender:  Believers of the “God-King” Hidalgo

Mission:  Defend the faithful and vanquish the infidels

Fanatical:  May use “overrun combat” skill.  BUT, any units doing so receive a -1 defense modifier for that turn.

Connor Callahan: "Captain Gurdel sir, since this is a known assault do we have any intel on what might be waiting on us in the way defenses?  Or if the these guys have any air power we need to worry about?  Also would you like Charikov and I do a recon flight to see what we may find?"

Jack Charikov:  "Sir, do we have any Cluster or High explosive bombs available?  Unless we know there is a large force of air power around, because those bombs do slow us down."

Star Captain Gurdel's request for intel took a while to go up the chain of command.  In fact, all the way up to Nicholas himself.  There were reports of Antonio Hidalgo and his people from before the second Exodus.  His followers included up to 5 mixed battalions of troops.  High Command feels that [as this is one of the farthest outposts from Hidalgo City] no more that a reinforced mixed company would be defending Osgiliath.  Clan Snow Raven reports that their own fighters have been kept quite busy by Hidalgo aircraft.

[OOC: Bombs are available.  Let me know your choice by Friday night.]

Can someone recap?  Just how hurt are Kharlan and Yamamori?  Glad it was a good game. Wish I could have been there.

With a sweep of his hat,

Paul

The light star was diverted to other operations, so the heavy star was sent in to clean out the nest of infidels. We set up and moved to contact, our air ops could not stop a flight of enemy aircraft from making a bombing run. They picked the biggest target on the planet. Pillager takes 40 pts. to start off.
As we move to Legotown, a Hvy lance moves on our right to intercept. We make a concerted effort to enter Legoville and engage.
Our air boys finally dispose of the enemy aircraft and turn their attention to the ground troops. This turns the battle along with 2 lances of some former SLDF that have remained true to Kerensky. They offer their services and we gladly accept.
More damage recieved and inflicted. Mop up and several prisoners taken. Not much holding the Pillager together. Both arms internal, right had 2 pts. left and the left arm not much better. One hit to the pilot.
A good time had by most. Some didn't have the dice gods with them.
