Unit's next destination
« on: June 03, 2017, 06:58:26 PM »

With Operation Pokey complete and many of us wanting tomodify our mechs, we have some decisions to make. From the planet Asta (where we are now) we are pretty much in the center of the Inner Sphere. New Earth appears to be the closest planet with a mech factory. Bergan operates a battlemech factory producing Champions there (Rob already said no LAMs...). New Earth should be about 1 jump from Asta, making it an economical distance to travel for unit refit.

What are your thoughts?

From a repair and customization standpoint, I would say that a month on new earth would be helpful.  You and I need time to repair our units, and other people want some time to try and customize units.  Also we need to let personal and contract markets refresh.

FYI, if you go to New Earth, you'll get there on July 24.  Launch from Asta on July 13th (ie, "tomorrow"), 5 days to the Jump Point, jump, 6 days from the jump point to New Earth.  Which means that you can start applying bonuses from factories on July 25th.

I have the AAR and contract updates ready to post in the POKEY log thread, but I'm holding off until Sunday afternoon because, frankly, my BT stuff is still in my car and I need to get the paper what shows the amounts of money ya'll get.  So FYI, check it early tomorrow evening.  After 6pm should do it.

New stuff is up.

I'd prefer we come to a decision about where we're going ASAP.  Today if at all possible, so we can advance time and go through the marketplace cycles.

My suggestion is that we stay on New Earth from 7/25/44 through until 9/1/44.  That enables us to look at the August Marketplace AND the September Marketplace and Contract Markets (people originally wanted to be on-planet for a month, but a month+5 days also gives us access to 2 months of marketplaces).

Easiest way to do it by far is to have them join up on 1 September.  If we do it on 1 august, that forces the OOG players to get their stuff done before we can move on to the September marketplaces.  Bringing them in at the same time the 2nd set of marketplaces/contracts goes live means nobody is waiting on them to go through 2 months of repairs and shopping.

Works for me, particularly if we can begin the disassembly part of customization end route. (Dang phone doesn't understand French.)

Yes, that would sure help me too.

5/7 PCs indicate a desire to go to New Earth with Rob having no clear indication and Mike apparently being away from good internet. So the unit desires New Earth as a destination.

In fairness, Rob has no clear desire one way or another.  I wasn't especially planning on a refit, but I have no issue going along with it.

Should we worry that Rob refers to himself in the third person?

Staying put for 1 month + 5 days is fine with me as well.
