4-1-3045 Contract Market
« on: October 21, 2017, 11:58:12 PM »

Your current contract is scheduled to end on 4-25-3045.  These are the available April contracts for your perusal.

Clarification Now That I Have Found A Guide On How The Campaign System Numbers Break Down: "Estimated Total Profit" assumes that you have no transport capability, and therefore is not accurate.  Because you own your own JumpShip, travel will cost the unit only $350,000 x (number of jumps), but you're also basically handed a check for the amount shown under "transportation amount."  So in the case of Operation CHURN (37 Jumps), Travel will cost the unit $12,950,000 C-bills up front (this is where contract advances are handy), but at the sucessful end of the contract the unit is handed $19,536,000 Cbills to offset that (any remainder is profit).  The "50% Transportation Reimbursement" is to cover 50% of the cost of a CHARTERED JumpShip/DropShip; owning your own ships drops your per-jump costs from the current price $1,056,000 CB per jump to a flat $350,000 per jump per JumpShip.

Command rights are sucking for most with CHURN being best at liaison and LIONHEART really sucking at integrated (and on Astrokaszy no less...) [Rob, what does (Exchange) on salvage mean?]

SHINAI is 8 months transit away for a 3 month long extraction contract where we probably won't control the battlefield enough to make use of the 100% salvage terms. At 45% transport, we are covered cost-wise but not making an abundance of profit on the transport terms.

MINUTEMAN in 2.5 months away with full coverage on transport with A level regular opponents, so the difficulty is likely to be similar to what we are facing now with better salvage, but only 50% of it. Looks acceptable.

ANITA (How the hell is Lockton 64 days from Aspropirgos?!) Meh in all regards, transport at cost, 40% salvage, F rated opponents...

SLEDGE is 6 months away, but at 100% transport cost, which would net us ~15 million in just transport. BLC and salvage at 60% look good. Regular B rated opponents. The big concern is as a planetary assault, we will see more assault mechs with our mostly medium force.

CHURN is 9.5 months away at 50% transport coverage with great salvage rights against a D level opponent. :/

LIONHEART takes place on Astrokaszy, 'Nuff said. NO! Add in Integrated command with D rated opponents and it becomes a Hell NO!

Overall I would vote for them in this order:

1. SLEDGE
2. MINUTEMAN
3. Wait a month
4. All of the other Operations

Can you check the transit time to Canopus IV? They have a mech factory and it looks like 1 jump, maybe. A couple of days to the jump point, jump, and a couple of days to solid ground when the refit orgy can begin.

According to Sarna, the planet's vegitation and wildlife are inedible/poisonous. So we probably need to make sure we don't abandon anyone.

Just make sure you aren't about to "retire" soon.

You and Paul can absolutely voice opinions about contracts.  You'll be added to the unit the day *after* the current contract ends.

You joke, read the Sarna entry...

"... but the food itself was horribly over-processed and subject to so much chemical reconstitution that visitors were often shocked by the results."

The general rules for hostile environments which aren't IMMEDIATELY fatal (ie, vacuum or underwater) go as follows:

1) Wear an environment suit (no cost) in the cockpit.  Take a +1/+1 penalty to your skills.
2) If you eject or are in a destroyed Mech without an environment suit, you make a BODY test vs a TN between 5 and 10 every round (2d6, +1 if your BOD is 7+, -1 if your BOD is 4 or less).  Fail a roll, take a point of pilot damage.  Damage stops if you're picked up by a unit (friendly or otherwise).  This planet isn't especially lethal, so you're probably testing on a 6+.

And your Overhead costs will cover food/water.  You don't have to worry about that.

Out of pure curiosity, since I doubt anyone is going to pick LIONHEART any time soon, what is the meaning of salvage rate 70% (Exchange)?

Field Manuel Mercs page 27:

Exchange means all slvage is turned oveer to the employer, and they give back a percentage of the salvage in fair market value as C-bills or equipment.  While it existed pre-Clan, it really came into use with employers during the first invasion for obvious reasons.

Also better hope you're on good terms with employer, or the C-Bill equivalent of the salvage in machine gun rounds is both A) within the letter of the law and B) a valid grounds for an MSRB complaint.

Yeah, there's an incentive to take that contract...
