Yeah, there's an incentive to take that contract...
 ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

Generally speaking, if you aren't going up against the Clans, Exchange always pays out in C-bills.  Equipment is normally given in exchange for Clan stuff (since you'll likely need to replace equipment after fighting the Clans) and the equipment given out is almost ALWAYS advanced-tech stuff.

how will that work with pilots who have ejected ?

The general rules for hostile environments which aren't IMMEDIATELY fatal (ie, vacuum or underwater) go as follows:

1) Wear an environment suit (no cost) in the cockpit.  Take a +1/+1 penalty to your skills.
2) If you eject or are in a destroyed Mech without an environment suit, you make a BODY test vs a TN between 5 and 10 every round (2d6, +1 if your BOD is 7+, -1 if your BOD is 4 or less).  Fail a roll, take a point of pilot damage.  Damage stops if you're picked up by a unit (friendly or otherwise).  This planet isn't especially lethal, so you're probably testing on a 6+.

And your Overhead costs will cover food/water.  You don't have to worry about that.
I assume enemy forces are under similar constraints (?).

My character prefers Minuteman for backstory issues.

Let's move this toward resolution.
Does anyone want any mission other than SLEDGE or MINUTEMAN?
Which mission do you prefer to take, SLEDGE or MINUTEMAN (or other)?

For myself, I have no strong preference between the two missions. 50% of A quality salvage vs. 60% of B quality salvage seems like a wash. The 60% BLC for SLEDGE looks good, but Tsukude has a hostile environment that can kill our mechwarriors. The longer travel time to Tsukude will net us more money from transport costs, but is also 3 months we aren't working on a contract and gaining XP. As a bonus, Pella II is only 2 jumps from Calloway VI with an Earthwerks mech factory.

You assume correctly.

I'm not going to lie, I'm ALMOST ready to say "fark it, wait a month", which then gives us a chance to not just get new contracts, but also gets us another marketplace generation so that Dragon and Skaraborg Lances can hire additional Techs/Doctors.

I'm not a huge fan of *any* of these contracts, would be the main bullet point here.

ALSO: remember that Sylvie is stepping down as Unit CO at the end of this contract.  By waiting a month, one of you wil be the new CO; which may change or improve our Contact situation.

ANITA (How the hell is Lockton 64 days from Aspropirgos?!) Meh in all regards, transport at cost, 40% salvage, F rated opponents...

Can you check the transit time to Canopus IV?

It's 2 Jumps to Canopus IV (which is 33 LY away from Aspropirgos).  You have to jump to Fanardir, and then to Canopus.  32 days total, mostly 'cause it takes 2 weeks to get from the Canopus IV jump point to the planet.

The trip to Lockton would have a similar issue; it's 40 days from the Jump Point to the planet.

I have no problems with waiting a month or two. Thematically Canopus makes a great place to lose Sylvie and access to the mech factory would be nice.

I wouldn't be opposed to waiting a month and getting a jump into a mech factory for some swaps or refits if people needed then we can check contracts and market

I'm not a big fan of the enviro issues

Lucas and I vote wait a month or 2. Get new CO.

By the way, do we have new CO lined up?

Why no.  No you do not.

Somebody should probably start that discussion.

I would have a preference for waiting,as being hunted by a warrior house or death commandos doesn't seem like a way to live a long life.

Just want to make sure I understand what we're doing.
  • Contract ends on April 25, so this means we're currently looking at the April market
    • -Does this mean the market will refresh on May 1, or do we have to wait 30 days?
  • Traveling to Canopus IV takes 32 days, which puts us on-planet May 27th, 3045
    • -If we accept a contract from the May OR June market, there's really no reason to go, as we'd be lifting off practically the moment we arrive.
    • -Does this mean our intent is to wait for the July market (assuming July 1), and use the time between 5/27 and 7/1 (approx 34 days) for rest/refit?

Sounds great to me, since I missed the last refit stop due to work stuff. I just wanted to make sure I understood the timeline so I could properly plan for it.
