7 jump means it can jump in adjacent to bad pilots or one hex away from good kickers with pretty good odds.
The MPLas pulse bonus is a must have to hit.
Gunnery 3 + Jump 3 + target movement (1-4) = 7-11 before woods, smoke, weather, ...
That ranges from a 60% hit down to 8% based on target movement for the MLas.
With pulse that is a 5-9 range for 83% to 27%. For the same movement modifier, the pulse chance to hit is worth 3 MLas shots at the top. At the bottom, it is more in favor of multiple MLas with each MLas statistically doing 3 damage vs. the MPLas's 5.

He did say "buy a 210XL engine."

Typo.  The tech readout is correct.

So therefore, what I meant later-on was "Swap the engine in the Cicada - AS REFLECTED IN THE POSTED TECH READOUT - for an XL version of the same engine rating to free up mass for all of the MPLs"

1. Just for clarity, changing engine type (STD <--> XL) is an F refit requiring a factory and lots of time.
2. Similarly, changing the 320 rated STD to a 280 rated STD is a D refit that could be done en route.
3. If you try for the XL, be sure to spend any remaining tonnage freed on upping the armor to protect that XL engine...
4. Good luck and godspeed on your refits either way.

The SFE -> XLFE discussion is in regards to some time from now.  I'm like 98% sure there's no way Dragon Lance has the cash to flat-out buy a 280XLFE right now.

The posted refit was a 320 SFE for a downrated 280 SFE.

Then I would also have to downgrade the gyro... Forgot to factor it in when buying the new engine. Now I am short on funds to buy the replacement. Is there a way around this?

That is one of the factors preventing me from putting an XL into my Thunderbolt. The gyro is 1.2 million cbills...

Well, this sucks then. Guess I am short a Mech due to forgetting about gyro. and since Gyro is class F, I need a factory to even do it.

This isn't immediately helpful, but Pella II is between several factory planets. Calloway IV and Sian among them.

Possible solution: CO assigns you the unit's T-bolt.  You rip the 3-ton gyro out of the unit to make the Cicada work.  You'll have to give the T-bolt back with a gyro back in it eventually, but this would buy you some time to find the $900K for a new 3-ton gyro.

Guess I will have to play a conservation game until I get the funds. I accept the terms.
