Between this and the marketplace, I vote we never come to Canopus IV again, haha.

Um, so I beleive if we wait another month we will have to make retirement rolls for everyone due to unit inaction.

Decatur - Nope
Valkyrie - Meh, blech!
Gunso - dislike for story reasons, but not overly (pricks on New Home deserve it)- 18 jumps at 100% would yield ~12 million in transport alone - New Home is next to Terra (and better markets... - acceptable and short
Wudao - Nope
Running Horse - Acceptable, close and short
Sea Lion - Hate the name... - We would make ~20 million on transport - high salvage of F rated opponents - lol

If we have to move or face retirements, I would pick GUNSO

Just so you aren't thinking of waiting around indefinitely for the "perfect contract",  ratings of 50% salvage, 40% Transport, Half overhead, 50% Straight Support, and 40% BLC are the "average" results a B-rated Merc Unit with a +3 Negotiator should expect to get, prior to Contract Type bonuses (Planetary Assault = more base pay and Salvage, Extration Raid = less Salvage and more BLC, etc).

Elsa's Views:

DECATUR = Plenty of salvage, but it'll be a bunch of crap Mechs.  The bonus here is that Pirate-hunting missions have the greatest chance of "special" missions; SLDF Caches, Capture the DropShip, and so forth.  It's not a guarantee, but if you want to play those odds, Pirate Hunts are the way to go.  Plus, hey, we're already close.  The big downside of Pirate Hunts on abandoned planets is the whole "no Marketplace" thing, though.

VALKYRIE = This is a pretty bad contract.  30% Salvage and BLC for a Planetary Assault is *terrible*.

GUNSO = This isn't terrible.  Independent command, and slightly above-average salvage and BLC.  Plus the salvage we pick up is FedCom salvage; their unit selection means that a D-rating for FedCom is like a B-rating everywhere else.  The distance traveled isn't back-breaking, and as long as we don't get stuffed up, we make a *lot* of money on Transport.  This is a good contract.  The big downside is working for the Dracs; they have high Employer Betrayal chances.

WUDAO = This also isn't a terrible contract on paper.  It's the intangibles that are the problem.  This planet is the primary treasury of the St Ives Compact, and we're going face first into the First St. Ives Lancers, Elite Pilots in 2nd-hand FedCom gear, and there's the possiblity of running into Kai Allard-Liao...on the OPFOR.  Pass.

RUNNING HORSE = This is a perfectly servicable contract.  Not too distant, moderate-to-good ratings pretty much all around, a short duration...the only even moderate downside is that it's House Command, which will crimp our mission rerolls somewhat.  Still not a bad contract.

SEA LION = Again, a perfectly serviceable contract.  The downside is how far away it is, not anything bad about the contract, really.  90% salvage is excellent, though it's not like the FRR has good units to salvage.  What's more, if we win, we get 100% Transport reimbursement.  That's 31 million CB in cash, plus whatever we get for selling off the plethora of salvage.

.

Elsa's vote would be for SEA LION - because fuck the FRR - and if that's not a thing (or we can't afford to get there in the first place), she's 50/50 between RUNNING HORSE and GUNSO.  RUNNING HORSE has better terms in general, but the quality of the salvage we'd pick up from FedCom OPFOR in GUNSO would be nice.

I was not sure about the ratings for tech in each house so that sums up a bit and helps

fedcom gear is good and most likely best option

frr has second hand units from periphery dracs and fedcom tho so we may get something useful here and there if not lots of stuff we can take time to mod for later or sell. even if its crap its still worth a bit. cicada 2b for example is like 1.8mil as is after 50%

on the upside ppl that want to mod theres the contract to take right there that 200+ travel time will almost make certain your set by time boots hit ground not to mention we get disbursements each month right?

i kind of like the frr thing 90% salvage is awesome.. but with almost 0 chance of anything with case all those big mechs like the atlas or king crab etc will more likely boom

Paging Rob....

Unit Inaction won't force Retirement checks unless you're sitting for 6 months or more (same as if you're in a Garrison, Defensive Retainer, or Cadre contract and get no combat for 6+ months).

Otherwise, we check automatically at the end of the Unit's THIRD contract.

the salvage wont really be worth it i dont think in any of them not to mention almost no pay out

AS MENTIONED IN THE RULES: PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE "ESTIMATED TOTAL PROFIT" NUMBER

That number assumes that you have no transport (AtB can't handle it when a unit has its own JumpShips/DropShips) and so assumes that you're charting transport to the location.  It also doesn't take Salvage Sales or BLC into account.  For example, under the GUNSO contract (Estimated Total Profit ~550,000 CB), since you have your own transport, you ACTUALLY stand to make a hair over 16 million C-bills after you've gotten your check for Transport Reimbursement and prior to taking Salvage Sales or BLC into account.

not to mention we get disbursements each month right?

No.  The contract doesn't actually start until you arrive on-planet.  You do not get paid while you travel.
