Questions
1. Will BSP arty flight times be 1 for all map sheets or will they change with range? I assume our arty sets up within 8 map sheets of the far map for 1 turn flight time, but I would like to confirm.

2. Can we choose to bring the arty on map? If so, would it get to fire more than X times/game? (And yes, I realize our arty could get shot this way.)

3. Will the base forces (be able to) retreat?

1. If it's indirect-ire from offboard artillery, the range is 1 turn flight time.
2. Yes.  They're treated like any other vehicle that way (and no, you don't have to purchase BSP that way)
3. I don't know yet.

Will the St. Ives forces have their own objectives? Basically, if we say "Hold our beer..." (Guard the arty...), will they comply?

Your question isn't specific enough.  Which St Ives group?  Where is the arty?

Why would  unit with house employer rights ever accept an order from the mercs they are employing?

We bring the thumper and longtom onto the board. We have a lance  of St. Ives plus a single St. Ives mech as friendlies. The St. Ives mechs are generally less capable. Can we set them to guard duty? We can phrase it more politely, like please defend our artillery's honor from the vile yellow menace (erm... vile Capellan Menace).

mikes response makes sense to me tho...why would they take orders from us to defend arty..i mean i can think of a few reasons i guess but how logical would it be for them to couch commander it in the rear with the arty?

No.  I've been paying attention to Hat's startup process.  I'm going to go through the RSVP and CO Comms threads and put together a list of lances who I can actually pull from, 'cause it's passed the point where I can keep track of everyone's status (and each lance's status) on an out-of-game level.

I will do Dunedain's repairs this weekend when I catch the TO&E up. I only had light to moderate armor damage, so I should be ready.
