Dancer volunteers for mission.

I'd actually second this motion.  Dancer Lance isn't *all* customs, and what he's got are low-grade, optimization-wise.  I don't think he's deploying into the Ally Rescue either, so it should be a guarantee that his Mechs are up to speed.  Jumping Jack on Mudd's Phoenix Hawk won't hurt either; OPFOR are unlikely to have 60 XP SPAs.

I do agree with MAJ Saltier's point from the other thread that survival of the Thumper Artillery piece needs to be the highest priority in this fight, second only to the deployed MechWarrior himself.  That should be made clear in the firmest possible voice.

I agree that Dunedain's Firestarter is probably the OPTIMAL choice for this mission.  But with the other mission the day before this one, honestly, I'd prefer Dunedain stays out of this and repairs their crap ASAP so that we can think about having them drop into the Base Attack.  I'm looking at deploying a full 5 lances into that mission.

Who all has had special missions so far?
I know Reaper, Skaraborg and Freya Lances have had a special mission. Am I forgetting anyone?

No.  I'm tracking this too.

Although in the interest of full disclosoure, I don't count Freya as getting a special mission.  That mission went to whomever captured the Highlander pilot, and since nobody else on the convoy mission wanted to tangle with the HGH, I ended up with it by default.  It could have gone to any PC on the convoy mission.  I care mostly about who's getting them as a result of randomization.

I believe Dancer Lance would be beneficial for this bout given those conditions.

Small clarificaton, how will the mech be selected? By my count all of Dancer's mechs are possible candidates. Everything is <=55 tons. So random selection does not guarantee the right Pixie, or even one of the Pixies. Or are we going with the assigned lance picking their L/M mech of choice?

Crusher may be an interesting play as well. Though I don't know if his Shadow Hawk is well configured to win it since it at least started life as a SHD-2D...

If Crusher or Dancer are the Chosen Ones, I can run the OpFor as they both live relatively closely

Excellent question commander.  Also while Dancer has volunteered, please note communication/readiness thread.  Dancer 1's custom PHawk is currently down for repairs.  It is unknown at this time [ooc: Tuesday night] if it will be ready [ooc: I haven't done the repair rolls yet].  Dancer is combat ready with a little shuffling.

Dancer One to Ranger One...

Be advised,
Repairs to Dancer 2,3,4 complete late 10/30/45.  Dancer 1 moves to PXH-3M pending repairs to PXH-1xSR.  Dancer 3 returns to Centurion.  Dancer Lance combat ready 11/1/45.  Available for reinforcement on turn 5.

Dancer One out.

Dancer One to Ranger One...

Be advised,
Repairs to PXH-1xSR complete at end of day on 11/1/45.  Lance configuration returns to:
Dancer 1 PXH-1xSR
Dancer 2 BJ-3
Dancer 3 PXH-3M
Dancer 4 GLD-4RxSR

Dancer One out.

The Shadow Hawk is now 5/8/5 with 8.5 tons of armor, 1 PPC (replacing the ac5), 3 ML, and 1 LRM5.

Dancer, go liberate the prison. Retrieval of the Thumper is to be considered a strategic priority.

Rob, if you're okay with it I can be OpFor on this mission as Dancer is often down the block from me.

Yeah, no problem.

I have to take my car in to CarX tomorrow, so I'll get around to generating the OPFOR as some point in the near future.

Dancer volunteers for mission.

Steve, you need to select one Mech for this mission.  You have two rerolls; you can reroll Terrain, Map, Light, and Weather  (the map size is fixed at a 1x2 area).

What would you like to do?

Rob, if you're okay with it I can be OpFor on this mission as Dancer is often down the block from me.

Done.

First, I choose my commander piloting his slightly modified PXH-1xSR [please see custom thread if required].

Second, he would like to increase tactics skill from 2 to 3.  He has fast learner.  Per the rules 2.2 pg 13, "Increase a skill: (New skill rank x 7)
(+/-2 per rank for either Nat. Aptitude or Slow/Fast Learner Traits), does this mean he spends 15 pts [-2/rank] or 19 [(new rank x 7)-2]?  Will that give 1 more re-roll?

Third, can I see the maps first?

Thx.
