Player forces should begin thinking in terms of hammering home the offensive. If we don't commit to this fight we will take more damage than if we charge in. We are also virtually certain to take casualties.

My lance is ready and I have infernos/flamers to work on the infantry. Does any other ready lance have anti-infantry?

My lance has either SPL, flamers, inferno or many other potential anti- infantry combos.

We need another tanky lance to help split up the damage on the approach. Kong, depending on your damage/mech readiness, do you want to put your PC in the unit's Highlander or T-Bolt?

I like my armor slab of an ost, but there is a deeper issue.  Those two units are slow and are primarly built to fire weapons.  I'm a 4 gunner, one of the worst mech gunners in the entire unit.

4 gunner will still hit turrets (which have 64 armor...  :-[ ) and if you have the BV headroom to spare, it'll bring up your total firepower. Also, you have range with the gauss rifle and LRMs, so mobility from an attack perspective is less of a problem. Mobility on defense will still be an issue though. My bigger concern for your lance is light mech survivability. Maybe we'll salvage you a Firestarter.

Some better salv from this mission would be better than what we got last mission.

To be fair, a royal shadow hawk isn't bad, it's just not enough.

If we can hammer these guys hard enough early, we should be able to pick up some real salvage. The P Hawks are good, with 2/3 being royals. Firestarters are pretty good lights for customization. No one is turning down a Whammy or Grasshopper. The Thug and Orion are good sale bait for the dropship fund. I wouldn't mind another Crusader for the garage. Etc.

Also Darrian, I see your triple arty tubes and raise it to all the urbies.

So great when random generation results in call-outs to mission mistakes of past.

Okay, by my count the following lances not already committed are combat ready.
Dancer
Dunedain
Freya
Ice

Crusher Lance's status is currently unknown, but he has at least one backup mech, so lance composition may change, but it should be combat capable unless other mechs were more heavily damaged than I think.

Midnight Lance will still be short 2 mechs as of the mission start.

Kong lance may be degraded based on the results of the Star League Cache mission, but will have access to the unit's reserve mechs.

Skaraborg has the highest Strategy rating, putting Dan in charge as local CO.

You will have up to two reinforcement lances from 4 (or 5) ready lances
(Crusher)
Dancer
Dunedain
Freya
Ice

I looked back through the missions and I think Dancer is the only lance that hasn't played a main contract mission yet this contract. So if Steve wants one of the reinforcement slots, he should probably get it.

My *suggestion* would be Dunedain and Freya as reinforcements.  Both lances have heavy assets for a slugfest and generall sufficient mobility to push aggressively into OPFOR rear areas if need arises, and my LAM can be used as an additional air support asset and/or literally fly on top of the Long Tom turret and beat it to death physically.  Dancer has been on a Solo mission, so everybody will have deployed during this contract if it ends here.

But it's on your shoulders, Dan.  Let me know when you're ready to cash in rerolls, if any.

I haven't started repairs yet, but I'll be fully combat ready since I've got 2 backup mechs (Crusader and Ostsol).

Sorry about the slowness on this, most of my time is being spent job hunting, and my spare time is being spent worrying about job hunting...

What is Freya's arrival turn as reinforcements?
When would we need to declare the arrival/air drop of the reinforcements?

Rob, silly question. What is the effect of infernos on base turrets? Do they have a critical table like vehicles? (I assume the answer is they make the turret nice and soot covered while accomplishing jack all, but I would like to confirm)

It looks like Kong lance will borrow the unit Highlander for this mission.

Depends on what I bring, because LAM.  IIRC it can go down to as early as Turn 2 or 3 now.

Turn prior to the arrival, same as always for airdrops.

You know, I actually have no idea.  I'll research that and get back to you ASAP.
