After-Action Report: A near-textbook operation. Rangers forces entered enemy-held territory from the northeast, pulling a response their way. Reaper, Midnight, and Wolverine performed a delaying action while reconnaissance units scouted to the south, bypassing the committed enemy defense units. Meanwhile, Dragon Lance flanked the enemy around a large hill, completing an encirclement. The FWL forces were shattered, escaping the field with only two functional Mechs. The Rangers took no losses, though several Mechs were hard-hit, particularly Reaper Lance's
Orion and Midnight's
Shadow Hawk, both with severe engine damage. Two
Trebuchets were salvaged, as well as a functionally pristine -3M
Battlemaster with its head blown off by MAJ Charikov.
21 October, 3051MISSION: Recon Raid (attacker).
RESULT: Victory. Contract Score raised to 2
After-Action Report: Rangers forces entered enemy-held territory from the southeast. Wolverine, Crusher, and Dancer Lance performed a delaying action while reconnaissance units scouted to the north, bypassing the committed enemy defense units. Freya Lance took up rear-guard positions while Crusher and Wolverine moved into the town and engaged the defenders. To the southwest, Dancer engaged a light lance in point-blank combat. The Land-Air-Mechs of Crusher and Freya finished their scouting and a general withdrawal was begun, but League heavy and assault-class reinforcements entered the area in a perfect position to cut Crusher and Wolverine lances off from their retreat. It was this eventuality that Freya had prepared for; LT Hartmann isolated and pinned down a League
Thunderbolt and
Rifleman almost immediately. The heavier elements of Crusher and Dancer lances skirmished with the oncoming League
Awesomes, until a freak PPC hit from Dancer's LT Zweibel punched into the cockpit of the League CO's essentially pristine Command Console-equipped
Atlas. This turned the battle, instead of conducting a well-organized fighting withdrawal, the Rangers smoothly shifted to the attack, counterattacking into the face of the League forces, which, while well-deployed to cut the Rangers from their line of retreat, had inadvertently divided their own forces into penny-packet lots due to the hilly terrain. The Rangers used their superior mobility to isolate and engage each small group of heavier League Mechs in turn. By the time the League forces fled the field, every League heavy and assault-class Mech - save a single
Orion which had tried to chase the LAMs and isolated itself from the battle - was down and either captured or destroyed.
