End of Tukayyid - Work to be done
« on: July 06, 2021, 08:16:01 PM »

All,

By the time you get to this thread I expect you've already reviewed the various threads Rob posted and updated including the rewards and the contract thread.  Some notes and reminders as the unit wraps up things on Tukayyid.

1. Do all of your retirement checks and post any personnel changes in the Second CO/GM Communication thread.  As you're making those rolls consider whether you're going to be at 9 mechs with the one Comstar awarded.  UPDATE: I believe all these are done.
2. Some lances including Midnight will be at 9 mechs after the reward and must be at 7 mechs to accept the reward.  If you didn't have a pilot retire and take one with them, you can always sell a mech even without a marketplace. UPDATE: Crusher I believe still needs to sell a Shad.
3. Update the Google Sheet along with the thread for all of your personnel changes. UPDATE: Please confirm after the November market is resolved.
4. Update the Custom Mech thread with your active mechs and/or send me PDF copies of the mechs so we have accurate records. UPDATE: again, please send me after the November market is complete. I expect it is for everyone, but will want to confirm.
5. No, seriously, do #3 and 4.  We should have a 100% up to date and accurate picture of unit status and readiness post Tukayyid and there's plenty of time to get it done.
6. Remember, as of July 1, 3052, Lance BV limit is 7,000.  You have some breathing space for the new toys.

Ok, now for some important notes.
1. Lances please check in with preferred assignments (Scout, Defend, Fight), but realized that with the possible exception of Dan everyone will probably take a turn cycling through the Scout assignment.  Until there isn't a significant discrepancy in repair options, people should be able to at least consider a unit or two with some Clan Tech.  I may reassess this, but I don't want a small group of players to get to play with the fun toys and the others not. UPDATE: as no one has indicated a change, I will assume people prefer their current assignments. I will look at Devil and adjust roles as needed.
2. NEW: as a reminder, if you don’t have room in your lance for additional mechs you can’t be awarded salvage without selling something first.  Up to you, but you’ve been reminded.

Prefer a factory, but can make do with a market.
I will keep a post for all upgrades going forward.
The way I want to move my lance is to be support for indirect fire units (Narc/tag) any assignment that would give me the most bang for my buck would be optimal.

Factory planet is next stop.  Due to our fantastic dice roller program, Atayde's Warhammer's RT after fixing 3 engine hits, couldn't fix the RT and so it was destroyed.  Along with all components.  So I need to fix 3 engine hits again.  Lovely.  What did the dice roller have to say about that for my Green, Regular and Vet Tech? A roll of 5 every time.  *sigh*  As I'd REALLY like to not have yet another RT destroyed with all equipment in it again, we'll go to a factory.  There the TN will be 3 for my elite tech.  If that still fails, clearly my Warhammer died on Tukayyid and I just refused to accept it.  Need to figure out what the closest factory world is in Lyran space.

Skye or Hesperus I think.

Sounds like your techs had some of what mine did

Looking at various factory worlds plus general neighborhood of where we may want to take contracts from in the future, my recommendation is New Earth.  It's 9 jumps, has more than 1 mech industry running on it, is as close as Hesperus and only 1 jump further than Skye.  It's also only 2 jumps from Outreach which is where the newly forming MRBC is setting up shop, arguably the next stop after the factory.

Anyone have a strong argument to go somewhere else?

Update: Planned itinerary is updated as follows:

1. Go to Skye for some initial shopping (Skaraborg and Dragon both have contacts there)
2. Go to New Earth for factory upgrades / repairs
3. Once Mech work done, go to the hiring hall on Outreach for next contract

So, as an additional request, please send me any place you have contacts and would potentially like to stop within a couple of jumps in the future.  No guarantees, but I'll try to accommodate when possible.

If there are other stops wanted, please let me know.

Quick question so I can look at travel times.  Do you plan to leave Tukayyid on 1 June, 3052, and when do you start planning to actively look for contracts?

Leave June 1. We won’t look for contracts until New Earth. There long enough to fix things and then if we haven’t found something we like we’ll head to Outreach. It’ll just be 1 marketplace on Skye. Is that good or do you need more?

Can we get a pilot and equipment market for June?

We can't get anything on Tukayyid.  Everyone there except Comstar left.  We have to go somewhere else to get anything.

From Tukayyid, you would arrive on Skye roughly July 15th (~55 days), if you left on June 1st.

I can only plot a single journey (Tukayyid to Skye) on the AtB map, but the distance from Skye to New Earth looks to be *roughly* 4 jumps, so somewhere like 5-6 weeks from Skye to New Earth is a fair estimate (accounting for travel time from Skye to the JumpShip, and from the JumpShip to the planet of New Earth).

Using the Inner Sphere Stellar Cartographer, it claims 3 (Skye --> Summer --> Lipton --> New Earth).  If it's 4, it's 4.  Expected arrival on Skye end of July with arrival then on New Earth sometime in September.
