Griffin GRF-2N - SLDF (unseen)
« on: April 28, 2011, 10:32:21 AM »

Excuse my weak photo-fu.  I think these are the best pics I've taken, but still needs a lot of work.  Of course, it doesn't help that I went the easy way and used my iphone.

Here is the ride for Gerald Freund, of the 741st Royal Striker Regiment, SLDF:

Very nice work! It looks very old school and authentic. The shading in the color and panel edges look great. I also like that cockpit, what steps do you use to get the look?

Thanks!  I had a general idea of wanting the cockpit to look like the sunlight was coming from the front & center at about a 45 degree angle.  So instead of jeweling by working progressively lighter shades towards one corner, I worked them towards the center instead.  I tried to wet-blend a little more than I ever have before, although I really need to make it a habit to use a wet-palette as my acrylics dry so fast.  I was pretty happy with the end result, although my highlighting and shading for the rest of the mech doesn't really match the same light source.  I've recently decided that my next purchase is one of these:

or

I really need the magnification and the light!
