Deadly pointed out that I only commented on the weather, I'm good to generate the mission as is.

This tornado fight will be interesting. Timing wise the 7th is still my best date for running.

OK, your funeral.

NORTH

SOUTH

Maps:
Large Mountain 1............Mines 1
Large Mountain 2...........Military Base 2

MAP MODIFICATIONS
-There are no walls around the military base. The underlying terrain is there, but ignore the walls and treat the tops of the berm as Clear terrain.
-All black hexes, or hexes on other maps which appear to be roads, are Paved Hexes.

Deployment
Ranger Mechs deploy anywhere desired within 8 hexes of the south edge of the map.

OPFOR units enter on Turn 1 along the north side of the map.  No more than 3 Mechs may enter along any single northern map quarter.

Environmental Conditions
F4 Tornado Funnel Cloud: Place a Radius 1 (7 total hexes) template on the map, and prior to Turn 1, drift it 1d6 hexes using the Fall Table to determine direction (1 = North).  Each turn during the End Phase, the template drifts 2d6-1 hexes.  Any building Hex takes 80 CF if the template moves across it.  Any Mech is *automatically* knocked prone (determine direction as normal, Mechwarrior damage test requires a +5 modifier) and takes damage as though it had suffered a 4 Level fall.  If the tornado goes off the board edge, loop it around to the far side of the board.
F4 Tornado Surrounding Conditions: Mechs may not expend Running MP to enter a new hex (though the Minimum Movement rule is not affected).  All PSRs - not physical attacks - suffer a +5 modifier.  THIS INCLUDES EJECTION CHECKS.  Ballistic or Missile weapons may not be used unless the unit mounting them has an SPA which reduces either to-hit or Weather penalties**; in that case, assume the environmental to-hit modifier is a +6, and reduce the penalties from that point.  Direct-fire and Pulse energy weapon may be used, but apply an additional +3 to-hit modifier.
**Gunnery Specialization and All-weather would apply; Jumping Jack or Precision Ammo would not
F4 Tornado Wave Effects: All Water hexes on the board apply the Torrent terrain condition: add +2 MP to enter the water hex, and a +3 to all PSRs while in that hex (this *replaces* the +5 from the tornado effect).  Any Mech in water which falls (including a Mech pushed into water) is, during the end of the Phase in which it entered the water, displaced 3 hexes "downstream" (always downhill). If the underlying level of the terrain changes, this will result in an accidental fall; the Mech suffers half-damage from being in water, but must obviously still make Breach Checks.
F4 Tornado Flying Cow Effects: Infantry cannot normally operate in an F4 tornado condition.  In lieu of being automatically killed, conscious pilots outside of a building will automatically suffer 1 pilot hit during the End Phase of each round on an 8+.  Unconscious pilots take the damage on a 7+.  Add a +2 to the dice roll (making it more likely) if the pilot is in a Woods hex. Any conscious pilots may spend their turn "hunkering down" in a hex instead of moving, and as long as they aren't in a Woods Hex.  Subtract -1 from the die roll if they hunker down.  A pilot MAY NOT be picked up be friendly forces if they are hunkering down, and will test for damage (and consciousness) BEFORE being picked up that turn. Edge may be spent on any roll to avoid damage from Tornado effects.

Battlefield Support
None

Victory Conditions
Rangers
1) Destroy or render incapable of spending MP at least 3 OPFOR units
2) Have 2 or fewer Ranger units, including the liaision, rendered incapable of spending MP

OPFOR
1) Destroy or render incapable of spending MP at least 3 Ranger units, one of which being the liaison
2) Move to within 2 hexes of the 12-hex trapezoidal building on the Military Base 2 map, and return that unit to within 1 hex of your board edge

MISCELLANEOUS
1) Exiting the battlefield requires a unit to remain stationary at the board edge for 1 turn.  Only a single spent MP is required to move offboard (ie, the environmental MP penalties doesn't apply; or, more specifically, the Minimum Movement rule overrides it).  Civilian vehicles and infantry may not flee the battlefield.

2) OPFOR MechWarriors will ignore any ejected Ranger MechWarriors in this scenario.

3) Ghost Bear units do not generally recognize zellbringen against mercenaries, and will fight and combine fire as though they were not Clan forces.  If they are an OmniMech unit, they will not make physical attacks, but may always use defensive SPAs regardless of their unit type.  If they are NOT in an OmniMech unit, they may elect to make physical attacks as normal.

4) A unit unable to use weapons due to weather conditions is NOT considered crippled.  The weapon is still active on the unit; it just can't hit anything.

Going ahead and dropping the SPAs here, since I may not be available to send them to whomever is OPFOR.

I would buy tickets to see this movie.

Which hex is the tornado supposed to start, or is that players choice?

Shit.  I accidentally a sentence.

Tornado starts along the north-south centerline of the map, 5 hexes NORTH of the map centerpoint.

After Action Report for Operation WOTAN Defensive Action. 24th September 3063

Pilum Lance CO Amalia Novak's Report Begin:

I fucked up. Hard.

I didn't think those clanner bastards would call my bluff. I heard the tornado sirens start and decided that that might
be everything I needed to stack the deck in my favor. I figured with their autocannons and missiles offline that we'd be able
to close in and hit them hard while they didn't have all their toys. I didn't know how many had training to handle this.
Who the hell practices to fight in these conditions?

Regardless I grabbed the thunderbolt, had Van Zandt and Fukuda mount up, and told Huggen to take the Firestarter Omni. She
was always the choice for harsh weather before we went merc. I figured she would be a better choice than O'Shaunnesy.

I got overly excited and cocky. It felt like the old days being pirates. Rushing out to slam into a force of lighter mechs
that can't take a solid hit. I didn't realize exactly how tough clan tech is to crack. I couldn't hit with my PPC in the wind
and ended up with most of a god damn lance opening up into me. I shouldn't have taken out the rookies. Huggens knew how to keep
up. Pick targets. But their jump jets weren't an option and it slowed her down. The rookies couldn't keep up. Van Zandt is too
used to getting to hang back with big guns and Fukuda wasn't able to keep pace in her battlemaster and was never a good shot
to begin with.
Left the liaison to guard the base while we took the field.

Instead of hitting them and melting cleanly through their mechs that damn dragonfly was able to run circles around me while
the Ryoken and Puma cracked open the armor. The gale force winds ended up being too much. I managed to finally tag the Dragonfly
just in time for them to blow off the arm I was using to holding myself up. They followed it up by rushing behind me and
punching through the rear armor. The Gyro blew and I powered down.

That choice is what killed Huggen. The seized the initiative and putting us on the back foot. I'd managed to snap everyone into
shape briefly, but when the gyro hit and I shut down it was up to Huggen to run the show. She was never one for command.

I felt like a damn coward. My head was still spinning from the last fall. I was just powered down stuck in the dirt as I heard the
shouting over the radio. The shriek of tearing metal. Her scream. I'm not sure if she died immediately. I hope she did.
After that hunchback punched her cockpit open Van Zandt said she saw the clanner throw something into the storm.

God I hope she died immediately. I'm sorry Romania. I'm so so sorry. This was all my fucking fault. You didn't deserve that.

From there I saw Fukuda getting swarmed down by the Clanners. Blew her gyro and the battlemaster toppled. I was able to see
her rush to cover from where I was. Van Zandt signaled that they were pulling back. Only one that was thinking clearly by
that point.

The Liaison managed to show us up. Killed a Dasher that went for him. Only one of us that managed to bring something
down. Didn't matter. The clans had already nabbed the data by that point. I had a prime view of it running back to their base.

Once Van Zandt called a retreat the Liaison bugged out as well. Damn near total failure. And I was stuck hunkering in what
was left of my Thunderbolt until the tornado passed.

I'm not sure what to do now. This is going to set us back months. O'Shaunnesy's now the only one left from my old crew.
I can't replace Huggens. I'm sorry. I'll miss you.

After action report concludes. I need a god damn drink. If anyone needs me. No you fucking don't.

-LT.SGt Amalia "Broadside" Novak.

OOC Report:

Mission Failure.

Opfor managed both objectives:
They had only one mech rendered incapable of spending MP. Another mech was missing a leg but still technically able to
stand on a 12 with a KO'd pilot so it didn't count.
Hussar managed to grab the data and escape with it.

Rangers had three Mech losses:
Thunderbolt shut down with CO hunkering inside for the remainder of the mission after it took a gyro crit.
Firestarted Omni had the head punched in, pilot Romania "Kisses" Huggen killed.
Battlemaster had Gyro blown from crit to the back from the Loki's small laser.

Liaiason's mech crippled but not destroyed. Liaison Alma Meinert themselves took no pilot damage during the fighting and
killed a Fire Moth.

Let me know if I get to keep the Thunderbolt or not. The enemy controlled the battlefield after the combat so I'm not sure if powering down the mech
means I get to keep it like Xander mentioned. Wasn't able to find clarification in the rules.

Oh was the above post not a sufficient one? Or am I supposed to put it somewhere else. You did clarify the thunderbolt question that I brought up in it that I got to keep it since it shut down.

Listen, I know you aren't going to believe this, but when I loaded the thread this morning, the last post in the thread was this one:
