July 30 2011 game
« on: July 25, 2011, 11:30:51 PM »

REMINDER!

We do have a game this weekend at Sci-fi City.  Due to the site outage and prep for GenCon, I'm horribly behind on everything, so there's going to be almost no RP prep for this game, a fact that I'm tremendously sorry about.  THE SHORT VERSION:

You are transported to Terra and found "not guilty" on all charges. However, you're still a dammed political embarrassment, and so you're formally transferred to a training command, Terra-side, on "detached duty" until the Periphery fighting dies down, the media stops asking inconvenient questions, and you can be reunited with the 741st.  You take part in a couple of training missions for the Terran PDF (planetary defense force) as OPFOR, and are universally miffed to find out that instead of getting Christmas off, you'll be assisting the PDF in playing OPFOR to the 101st Rim Worlds Guard in a series of maneuvers north of Calgary culminating in a Christmas Day assault against a mountain river valley you and the PDF will be defending (Lat/Long coordinates 51.971656,-115.254478).

GAME INFO:
Saturday July 30th. Start time is 11pm sharp.  Be there at 10.  Additional players are welcome.  Playing until 6pm, hard stop.

OOG: I probably can't make it. The Feds blindsided me with a datacenter move.

IG: Sgt Marshall spends the nine month trip recovering from his concussion and getting requalified for battlemech duty. During his requalifications he focused on improving his accuracy with his full battery (gunnery/mech +7 from +6). He also spends time researching guerilla tactics and insurgencies in Terran history. He is often spotted with a copy of The Art of War and copies of various texts regarding ancient wars in Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe and Africa (Tactics/Insurgency +1).

Rob, will we have dummy rounds or live ammunition loaded for this scenario?  Also, will our energy weapons be operating at full power?

In addition, I'm spending 70 XP to get Artillery +2 and 70 XP to get Sensor Operations +2.

Rob, will those of us who lost our mechs (ie Brent and myself (Royal Sentinel and P-LAM) have replacements? ..And time to modify them if needed?

On the trip home, Hawker tracks down the manual for the Dalban K tracking and comm suite, figuring out what all the blinky lights on the advanced system are trying to tell him.

Spending 70XP to get Sensor Oporations +2

Yes and no, respectively, for you.  For Brent, no* and no.

*This is an excuse to keep him out of the scenario if he can't make it Saturday.

It's a training exercise for a faction that ISN'T the Clans...what do you think?

EVERYONE, remember to modify your character sheets appropriately for your XP expenditures.  I'll get to modifying the TO&E thread when possible, but actually getting the game off is a higher priority this week.

Herman Schwepps has been put on emergency leave to take care of family matters. His mother has unexpectedly passed away. He will be home with family to settle the estate and celebrate a rather somber holiday season. He wishes all from the unit a wonderful holiday and will be back soon. Don't hurt yourselves while running around some godforsaken planet, playing wargames. (No I have not had a death in the family)

I will be there, hopefully right around 10 a.m.  I'll even be bringing semi-pretty metal things with me.

Do most folks pack in their snacks/drinks?

There's a food court in the mall the store we play at is in, so most of us buy lunch there.

The store has a microwave that we can use.  I usually pack something.  One of the mall bathrooms is pretty close too.
