20 July game

Since we won't be having normal game on the 20th, lets figure out what we want to do.

I will be bringing kit for a flightschool (ASF) that can handle 4-6 people.  Since we are running ASF in the next campaings, if you are interested in that this would be a good time to get some practice.
I will also be bringing Leviathans if anyone wants to play/learn that.

Other than that, do we want to run a grinder or scrapyard grinder, put together a 'bring your own lance' fight, or do a scenario out of one of the books?

Part of what I'd like to do on the 20th is figure out characters for the games and spend a bit of time discussing that.  Otherwise I'm flexible on what we play.  I may need to leave early due to my kids having a end of season baseball party to go to.

Alright.  That was resounding.  Everyone make up a lance of units (mechs, tanks, vtols, whatever x4) with a BV of 6.5k.  3067 techbase.  I will bring some proxies with me if people need additional stuff.

How am I calculating bv was there a different method or will the method in master rules work? Also will we be sing stock, variants, or personalized mechs? I also only have four painted minis will that matter? Also are there any mechs in particular to not use as well as not available during that time frame. I currently have the starter kit that was released recently as well as two lance packs but pretty sure most of those are already in the starter kit. Also Timberwolf Dire Wolf and Mad dog as well as my Griffin are in that selection as well.


Also on a side very funny about my side bar description. Would like to have it somewhat different unless you can explain them except for the over caff although I am not that over caff.

My understanding is that the Master Unit List (MUL) should be used for the appropriate BV2.0 values.  If you go to the Battletech Wiki and look up MUL you can get a link to the online database.  Apparently the pilot multipliers from Maximum Tech are still accurate.  I found a listing somewhere and jotted down some of the more common ones I thought I'd consider.  Here's a very partial list:

Pilot Multipliers:
4/5 (1.0)
3/5 (1.2)
3/4 (1.38)
2/5 (1.4)
2/4 (1.61)

If we're using something different, just let me know so I can adjust.

alright ill check the wiki but cant really composite units if not sure if theres is anything people do not want others to use as well as are we going stock mechs only no modifying?

Get the main program (first thing on the list) and the recordsheets master list in there, and you should have almost all of the canon mechs.  It calculates BV2 and prints out the recordsheets that we use for almost all of our games.

If this is an issue I can figure something else out to do.

Ok, a few more questions:

1. Are pilot special abilities available (Melee Master, Sniper, etc.) and if so how do they impact cost?
2. I've got Solaris SkunkWerks, but I didn't see any way to add a pilot.  Can that be done to get the final BV?
3. Just to confirm, official designs only, right?
4. Any general input on these kinds of events?  What kinds of terrain (open, city, etc.) should we expect?  Are most pilots 4/5, are they usually better?

1: No special abilities

2: 2 methods:
When you print out the mech, on the same page it asks if you want the tables printed, it lets you set the piloting stats and name the pilot.  To the right of the pilot name and stats it will have the adjusted BV for the unit.
You can create a force list of mechs.  Either in the select a mech window or in the mech stats window, you can hit the clipboard with the green + sign up in the tools at the top to add it to the force list.  Then you can hit the clipboard button to display the force list.  You can edit the piloting and gunnery stats in that window and get a running total of your force.  You can also use this to print out all of the units on that list, as well as firing chits and various other things.

4: Terrain is whatever i pull out of my maps, pilots are whatever people bring.  I probably wont use the battlespace maps.  Probably.

Game is everyone plunks their lance on the table and fights to the death with everyone else's lance.  I'll probably throw in random weather or other things from tac ops, and if I can find them the power up rules.

One last question - If I include a clan mech in my force, am I required to fight using Zellbrigen or because this is a BV balanced free for all, anything's game?
