How different would BT be if there were no DHS?

So, if BT could go back and erase double heat sinks altogether, how different would mech designs be even if you have all the other advanced technology available?

I'm betting drastic changes.  DHS are arguably the single biggest technology advance in the game.  Autocannons would again regain prominence with probably several newer/lighter designs.  Gauss Rifles will become the #1 weapon in the game [well, if they aren't already  :)]

Clans would've been defeated much earlier.

I think the elimination of DHS would certainly have had significant impact on the overall designs, but I'm not convinced it would have had as significant of an impact on when the Clans were defeated.  It'd be interesting to rewrite classic Clan and IS designs given the heat sink limitations.  The omnis would still provide a lot of tactical flexibility and the clan ballistic weapons are lighter and longer ranged than the IS counterparts.
